Clara enjoyed listening to music and dancing in her bedroom. She enjoyed this even more with her best friend, Melody.
"Turn it down!" Clara heard her brother shout from outside her bedroom door.
"Okay!" She screamed back over the music. She nodded over to Melody who stood next to the stereo. Melody grabbed the knob and cranked the music up. Clara laughed and continued dancing with Melody, ignoring the bangs on the door in protest.
"I'm so glad we're friends!" Melody screamed over the blaring of Living On A Prayer.
"Me too!" Clara screamed back and pulled Melody into a hug as they jumped around.
"That's it!" Clara's brother, John yelled before bursting through the door and running to the stereo to turn it down. Clara and Melody fell backwards into Clara's bed and laughed at how frustrated John was.
"Seriously, this happens every time. Calm the fuck down, I dont care whose birthday it is!" John exclaimed before hurrying out the door, slamming it behind him.
"Mom doesn't like when you talk like that, Johnny!" She yelled back to her closed door. They stayed silent until they heard another door slam and began giggling again.
"Happy 15th, old lady." Melody said with a laugh, poking Clara's side. Clara flinched away from her ticklish spot and rolled over.
"Hey! I'm only two years and three months older than you. Watch your mouth, child." Clara said back sassily and Melody gawked in mock offense.
"Oh, you love me." Clara stated and rolled back next to Melody, who couldn't control the giggle that escaped her.
"I guess I do." Melody poked Clara's cheek, who then pretended to bite her.
"We are best friends forever, right? Hard to do if you don't absolutely love me." Clara stated matter-of-factly
"This is true."
"Best friends forever." Clara and Melody said in sync while linking their pinkies together. For once, Melody felt herself appreciating her life, and Clara had no idea just how much she meant to the younger girl.
