As the rock flew through the air, tethered to Hans's fist, Alvera only had enough time to wonder, quite wildly, whether this time this would end. If she would end.

Maybe this time he would hit her just slightly too hard, and the fading of her vision would be permanent.

She wasn't sure whether she wanted to die or not, she only knew that this part of her reality was one she wanted to erase from all the records. If there were records of this sort of thing. Of one's life.

She wondered all this in the time it took the rock, air whistling around it, to strike her soundly in the temple, and then she wondered no more.

~~~
Humming. Someone was humming. It buzzed in her ear, insistent and annoying. She raised her hands to her ears, trying to shush the noise.
It stopped and she relaxed, her hands once again dropping to her sides, brushing against the forest floor.
Her eyes flew open.
The forest, why was she in the forest again? She couldn't quite remembe--.
Ah. Right.
She felt anger boiling underneath her skin, clouding her vision and making her fists clench. How many times must she remember this night? Or was it even the same night? It felt like days and days and days had gone by since she ventured from her house, fresh and clean, her dress like satin against her skin and her eyes wide, hopeful for just one night of happiness.
Oh how wrong she had been.
If only she had never left the house. If only she had forgotten that the festival was that night. If only her father hadn't been taken from her, her whole life replaced by another. If only she could go back to the days before everything. When she had had a warm bed every night, a loving smile from her beloved father, new clothes and new happiness every morning.
But no, here she was, once again being dragged through the forest by her attacker. Or one of them, at least.
Wait a minute, she wasn't being dragged.
She was lying still, but at quite an odd angle, her legs bent underneath her and her body half twisted to the right.
And then she heard the humming again, somewhere to her left. She sat up, ignoring the rush of pain from her temple.
Where was she?
Everything was very lush, very green, and there were beautiful flowers sprouting from nearly everything, even the tree trunks.
She faced toward the humming noise and there stood Hans, several feet away, his hands in his pockets, his mouth puckered, the source of that insufferable humming. He grinned when he saw her moving, and she bit back a hiss.
"I really couldn't resist waiting till you awoke." He said, and his voice was muffled, far away sounding, though he stood not even three feet away from her. She frowned and swallowed, attempting to drain her ears.
His grin widened. "I would wait here until something came along to eat you, but I really must be going. My family will be worried." And with that, he turned on his heel and sauntered through the forest.
What?
Is he letting her go? And what was with all of that eating talk? What would eat her? Wolves?
Slowly, cautiously, still fearing a trap from Hans, she stood, and flinched away from the shine she caught in the corner of her left eye, near where Hans had been standing.
She turned to look and froze.
Anything could have walked right past her at the moment. Could have stood right before, nibbled on her toes, waved their hand right in front of her wide blue eyes, and she wouldn't have noticed.
Because right before her stood the Pillars of Sanduine. The pillars that marked the magical border. The border that separated the lands of the Fae, from those of the Humans.
******Author's Note******
"HI!" The Author said enthusiastically, her wide-set blue eyes flashing with excitement.
Ha, that would be funny if the whole author's note was that, but no.
I meant to get this up this morning, but some things came up and I couldn't so yeah. That sucks.
I went to Chicago last weekend to see a Passenger concert (If you haven't heard him, you need to) and it was fantastic! I love the subway and the tall buildings remind me of AoT, which is always good XD
This next chapter will be a prologue of sorts, explaining about how the border came to be and such, so look forward to that! Unless you don't, and then don't T.T
Anyway, thanks for reading this! This one goes out to all of you readers! You guys are the actual best, and even though I've never met you, I LOVE YOU.
Also, what do you guys think about a cast? I've been thinking about it, but I'm not sure who everyone would be played by, but if that's something you readers would like, let me know in the comments! They always mean the world to me!
Don't be a ghost reader, because ghosts don't have any friends. Because they're ghosts. And I would love to be your friend, but I can't because I'm not a ghost. So don't be a ghost ;)
