Once at Aunt Sally's apartment we gathered supplies for a long car ride and some things in a getaway bag in case of emergency.  Apparently Aunt Sally was the little girl that my mom's adoptive family had.  As we ran to the street the Sun got higher telling me it was nearly high noon.  Aunt Sally handed us the keys to her car wished us goodbye.

"I love you, Sally and I'll come to visit in a few weeks." Mom told her.
"I love you too, Carmen" Sally replied holding back tears.  "Don't forget to message me once you are at the Camp."
"Of course I will, what kind of sister would I be if I didn't?" Mom promised

"Okay, stay safe, and um don't die" Sally laughed "Good luck and I love you guys!"  Then Mom and I set off down 88th street and onto the highway into Montauk.  Mom was never a good driver so we got lost a lot.  Mom might as well not have a bladder.  We took a bathroom stop every fifteen minutes for her to empty her walnut-sized bladder.  By the time we had lunch we weren't even on Long Island.

After hours of driving it was nearly nightfall and we've arrived at Aunt Sally's safe house in Montauk.  "We can have dinner here then go to the Camp." Mom told me.

"So what do we do at this 'Camp' anyway?" I asked her.
"It's one of the two safe places for you and I." Mom stated as she pulled a frozen pizza from the freezer.
"What do you mean 'one of the two'?" I questioned.  The world was a pretty big place so I didn't understand how there could be only two places in whole world for us to be safe.

"You will understand once we get to the Camp." Mom promised.
After dinner we got back into the car and got onto an old farm road.  An hour later I saw a huge hill standing among many other smaller hills.  On top of the tallest one was a lone pine tree with a pile of cords around it and a ginormous figure glowing with a faint light.

Suddenly our car stopped with a thud.  I heard a strange howl in the distance; almost like a horse, no a cow was dying.  A man with with a large frame was lumbering up to our car holding a blanket over his head.  No he couldn't be holding a blanket over his head because hands were swinging at his sides.  That meant he was wearing a cloak and had two massive horns.

"Marisa, get the getaway bag step outside the car and run to that statue on top of the hill." Mom told me "Do it now!" I took the bag got out of the car and ran to the hill.

Mom stepped out of the car with what looked oddly like a sword and charged at man with horns.  He took off his hood and I realized what he was.  He was a Minotaur.  I remembered him from the old myths Vincent used to tell me about.  I screamed and pushed myself towards hill.  I was halfway up the hill when I heard my mom wail out on pain.  I turned to find the Minotaur devouring my mother.
