War.

A word that describes the action of a none agreement between surgery groups; a conflict. Three letters, one word.

War was something that made the world uglier than it already was. Blood and death had reeked from the dusted battlefields that were once their homes. Flourishing valleys and villages were now reduced to nothing but dust and fleeting thoughts of remembrance.

Bittersweet memories stung the eyes of Uzumaki Naruto. His home was the most beautiful place in his blue cerulean eyes. Many memories and adventures took place there, so many sweet dreams cultivated within it.

All of it disappeared in the blink of an eye.

His home, his family, his dreams— gone. His home had turned to nothing more than ashes that would float away in the breeze.

How many bodies of the people he once called friends had he buried? How many bodies of the people he once called friends could he never find?

But there he kneeled, his mutilated hands gripping his teammate's. His face twisted into a grimace. All he could do was mutter quiet prayers and hold onto his friend's hand.

Across the body of his teammate, sat a woman with tearful and terrified eyes— Haruno Sakura. Sakura was always a head strong woman, a mere punch could cause an earthquake rattling through the Land of Fire. Not only was she equipped with a sharp mind, but her medical achievements as a young kunoichi were amazing to say the least.

She always strived for a goal and that goal was always but a firm one— to no longer look at the backs of teammates, but rather have them look at her's. She wanted nothing more than the acknowledgment from her teammates, her second family.

Sakura could only stare at the body that lay weak under her softly lit green hands, tears flowing from her emerald green eyes that once shone through even the darkest of times. They held nothing left, not even the glimmer she once had in them.

The body that lay under her small, calloused hands was none other than Uchiha Sasuke.

If his younger self could see his current state, he would let out a bitter laugh. He looked utterly pathetic.

Sasuke wasn't one for emotions. He kept a level head, words that seemed to outwit the next, and eyes that have seen more than they should have. He was nothing more than a kid when he returned home that night, staring at the red splattered tatami mats and walls.

Though as if a curse had been placed upon those eyes of his, Uchiha Sasuke was missing the eyes that saw the world more than anyone else. Uchiha Sasuke is currently at the age of 20, Haruno Sakura at the age of 21, and Uzumaki Naruto, age 20.

Who did all of this? Who crushed the dreams of these once willful shinobis and kunoichi? Who destroyed the place they called home? Who turned the world as they knew it into nothing more than a graveyard?

Uchiha Madara did.

Uchiha Madara began the war that has lasted for 5 years. Uchiha Madara was the one who crushed the hearts and wills of every shinobi and kunoichi to exist. Uchiha Madara destroyed the world.

They wanted to make that man pay, to suffer like he did to everyone else they loved and cherished. They wanted to watch him rot, they wanted to watch him die in the most agonizing way possible.

Though, as the three huddled together inside that small bunker, the earth rattling as Uchiha Madara searched for them. They seemed to wonder why they should go on.

Why were we fighting again?

Why can't we just give up?

Why do we have to continue on like this?

Sakura exhaled with relief. She had stabilized Sasuke's condition. He was in a horrible state, bones broken in several places, a punctured liver, and an almost collapsed lung.

Sakura wondered at times on how even she was able to heal them, her boys.

Naruto released a breath he had unknowingly held. He scooted back from his injured friend and leaned against a wall. He was exhausted, weak, and hungry. Food was hard to scavenge at times (thankfully they could rely just on food pills thanks to Sakura), oh what he would do for just one bowl of ramen from Ichiraku's.

Ah, Ichiraku's. His eyes closed softly as he explored deep within his memories. He thought of so many happy things he could think of that would easily bring a smile to his face five years ago, but now his lips could barely twitch up.

What had their lives come to? Fresh and dried blood were stuck to their grimy bodies, their minds damaged from what they had seen. Life was unfair.

Naruto held back the tears that threatened to breach the rims of his blue cerulean eyes. No. No tears. No more crying. His eyes casted to look over at Sasuke's shallow breathing body, then trailing over to see Sakura's quiet state, clutching her knees as she held them close to her.

Maybe a few tears wouldn't hurt.

"Don't cry, Uzumaki." Naruto heard the voice of Kurama boom within him. "I found a way, a way to reverse everything that's happened and to stop everything that will happen." Naruto was confused, what did Kurama have up his sleeve?

Kurama and Naruto bonded over these years, the first two were a rocky start for both as they barely could hold a decent conversation. Now, they chatted as if they've known each other their whole lives, the humorous thing is, is that they have with each other through all of Naruto's life.

Naruto listened intently to Kurama's words. He was going to send them back, but how far back? Kurama did not know, but he knew full well that they would be sent back before this war started.

"Change the course of history, don't let Uchiha Madara live. He must die, along with those who aided him." Kurama let out a low growl before his voice began to whisper soft, and quiet words. Naruto jolted to life, not expecting Kurama to send them into the past so soon.

"Sakura! Grab onto my hand then grab onto Sasuke's! Kurama! He's sending us back in time!" Naruto barked out in a sharp command. Sakura flustered slightly, stammering to question him, but his gaze told her not to.

Quickly grabbing onto his hand, then grabbing Sasuke's, Sakura said a silent prayer. Please, if there was a God, let him protect them further.

In a flash of light, the three were gone.

They were going to change the future.
