It was true. All of it. Erica was dead. I stood with Derek now, looking at her dead body in his arms as Scott explained to Allison how her mother had tried to kill him.
This--Erica's death--hurt worse than I could have ever thought.
But I couldn't think about it now. Not with Boyd and Cora out in Beacon Hills, as fully given in monsters the Alpha pack had made them to be for this one night.
Cora. My sister. She had been in the fire six, almost seven years ago, with me and Peter. I had seen her, she had been home that day. I had never thought that she had gotten out. I had thought she died.
Now, I was on the phone with Scott. "You lost them?"
"Yeah, I kind of had to."
"Wasn't exactly the plan."
"I know, which is why I think we should stick together. Trust me, he's too strong, too fast and way too angry for one person to handle. We've got to do this together."
"Look, I'm at the trails by the entrance to the Preserve. I'll call Derek. Can you meet me here?"
"Yeah. Just got to drop something off first."
Now all of us were together, running through the Preserve, and I somersalted over the tree, Scott and Derek doing th same on either side, all three of us landing.
I looked down at the two shoe tracks.
"Is it them?" Scott asked.
"We're not the only ones that decided to stick together," I said as I stood, walking past Scott and Derek.
"Is that gonna make it easier or harder to catch them?"
"I don't know," Derek answered.
Scott hesitated for a long second. "Guys . . . I saw Boyd try to rip two little kids apart. Are they gonna do that to everyone they find?"
"Everyone and anyone," I said bluntly, walking ahead of them, and they followed.
We tracked Cora this time. She was about to atttack some random girl camper when Isaac showed up to help, Scott jumping over him and kicking her to the ground.
Cora got up in less than a second, sensing me and Derek on either side of her, and she looked between us, roaring.
Both of us roared back, Derek's eyes red, Cora's eyes gold, mine blue, and Cora turned to run.
Derek, Isaac and I followed. Scott was telling the girl to get out of there.
Stiles called with bad news as Scott caught up to us. Lydia found a dead body at the pool, and he thought Boyd and Cora did it.
"Are you sure?" Scott asked.
"Yep. Throat ripped out, blood everywhere. It's like the frickin' Shining over here. If two little twin girls come out of the woods, start askign me to play with them forever and ever, I'm not gonna be surprised."
"Can you get a little closer to make sure it was them?"
"Make sure it was them? Scott, who else is going around ripping throats out?"
"Please just do it."
As Scott hung up, I said, "This doesn't make any sense. The public pool is all the way n the other side of the woods. We haven't tracked them anywhere near there."
