PART ONE- A Clay x Iris (OC) Oneshot

Iris' POV

I strolled down the streets, completely at ease, simply looking around. This was a quiet little place, with lots of rolling green hills and not many people around- the perfect place for an holiday.

I was a Knight- sworn to protect the small village of Swords. It wasn't a very exciting job- it was such a remote area that hardly anyone stopped to attack. But just in case, I had one of my neighbourhood friends, Lily, watch over the place while I was gone. She was a Knight too, and had gone to the same knight school as me.

Suddenly, my phone rang. I sighed and dug it out of my pocket. It was probably Lily with another report, telling me that nothing whatsoever had happened back in Swordsville.
But when I glanced at the screen, I saw that it was an unknown number.

Hmm. Who could it be?

Clay's POV

I had no idea that Iris was in town until Lily called me.

I had been training when Aaron swooped in (on his hovershield, naturally) and dropped my phone at my feet.

"You got a missed call, bro. From someone called Lily."

"Oh," I said, surprised. Lily was an old classmate from Knights Academy. We hadn't spoken since I'd graduated. What would she want with me?

"Thanks," I added, putting down my sword and stooping to pick my phone up. I inspected it for cracks and was fortunate enough not to find any. "And next time, just hand it to me instead of dropping it and potentially shattering it."

Aaron grinned as he shot out of the room. "I'll keep that in mind!"

I walked to the chill room, sat down on a chair and called Lily back.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Clay!" Lily chirped. "Nice to hear from you. How are you?"

"Um, good. Nice to hear from you, too. So... what's up? Why did you call me?" I leaned back into the chair and tried to get comfortable. I was quite exhausted from training for the past few hours.

"Well, you're in Hill Country, right?"

"Uh, yeah." Since there has been no word of Jestro or Monstrux during the past week, we had decided to take a small break here before rolling around the country again, searching for them and making sure they weren't up to no good.

"I just wanted to let you know that Iris is there too! She's on holiday where you are."

I sat up, excitement rapidly replacing the tiredness. "Really?"

"Yep! I thought you might want to get together, you being best friends with her and all. Listen, I better go. Got a village to watch out for... You have fun catching up with her. Bye, Clay!"

"Thanks, Lily! See you," I said. I hung up, then grinned. I was so glad Lily had told me that.

Iris was my best friend from Knights Academy, along with Macy. When I last saw her, she was quite exotic-looking; she had brown hair streaked with black, and a gold fringe that fell gently over her left eye. Her eyes were a deep red, and they could burn brighter than the sun when she was angry. It was pretty attractive...

Anyway. I hadn't seen her since her graduation, which was held a day before mine, and I missed her so much. But now I had a chance to see her again!

I picked up my phone and dialled her number.
