"Fall" the old merchant thought to himself as he looked around at the trees. The merchant wears a broken straw hat, and holds an old yet strong farmer appearance. As the old man hauls his load of various breads, he observes the trees changing from green to a small hint of orange along the tips of them. The man adjusts his hands along the large wagon handles and shifts his hat as he presses forward onto his next city. "Us men have little to no chance in this world. Far too many vicious creatures who feast on mankind.." he grumbled to himself.
"However, we are not completely helpless, we are able ta build, and create things ta keep us safe. It's enough for us to survive." He thought aloud as he reflected more on the world that revolved around him. "My job is as simple as 'tis dangerous. I sell various breads to all the cities, just on my way now ta good ol Verunian" the old merchant stops the wagon near a large willow tree and sits beneath its shade. As he pulls his water jug out he hears a noise to his left. As he turns to look, the motion that was within a nearby bush was already gone. The old man thinks nothing of it and starts to take a sip of water. He gulps down three mouthfuls before a large claw reaches from around the tree, swooping the man into the leaves and branches above. Silence.. not a cry for help. Not even a whimper. All that is left is the old mans hat, his bread, and his water jug.
