Jack's POV

Sir Witherspoon and his sons don't know that it was me who danced with the prince at the ball. They don't even know that I attended it. I have bright green hair, how could they not know it was me?

I assume it was that woman I met in the forest. She made a carriage move without horses, so what's to stop her from making me unrecognizable? Bless her for that. She went to all that trouble of making my dreams come true and I lose a shoe.

I have its twin under my bed in my room, so no one can find out the truth. Did I mention I sleep in the attic? It is very nice actually. I get my own bed and a good view from my windows. I have a window to look out into the garden and the front of the house. My room is very spacious or "empty" as some people might say. I love it anyway.

I head inside after I finish cleaning the stables. I head up to my room and find Sir Witherspoon standing there holding the shoe. "Look what I found." he says waving the shoe in my face. "A walk you said, a stroll to the forest you said. Lair!" he's never been this angry before. "You went to the ball and danced with the prince, now he's looking for you. After all I've done for you this this is how you repay me?" "You have done nothing for me." I say in a stern voice. He slaps me. Hard. I feel the blood and tears flow. He shoves me against the wall, holding me up by my shirt."You will never see that prince of yours again!" He knees me in the stomach. I fall limp on the ground as he heads out the door, he slams and locks it.  All I feel is pain as I cry myself to sleep that night.
