yoongi had showered before picking a set of robes from the wardrobe to wear. there was an array of colours that the boy wasn't expecting lined side by side, each colour calling him for different reasons. his hand reached for the blue one, rotating to place it on his bed and look at it properly.
it was pretty obviously in a much better condition than his old robes were. for starters, the fabric felt a whole lot better than his did, it didn't scratch against his palm whenever he rest a hand against the collar. the colour was a lot brighter than his, he had only worn it a few times and it already looked completely faded, the blue more like a grey. this robe was definitely higher quality than his was.
"yoongi hyung, are you dressed? the feast is soon." hosoek spoke from outside the door while yoongi was halfway finished unbuttoning his undershirt, preparing to put on a better quality one.
"i'll need a few minutes." yoongi shouted back and completely unbuttoned his shirt, pulling it off and throwing it along the bed to rest on the pillow. he had just grabbed the new shirt and had thrown it around his shoulders when the door opened, revealing hoseok stood looking brilliant in his robes.
"oh, gosh i'm sorry. we really need to leave soon." hoseok didn't dare look at yoongi, his eyes seemed to stray everywhere but yoongi's bare chest.
yoongi's hands moved quicker along the buttons of his shirt, doing up every single button as fast as he could. his face was red when he finally picked up the robes, stepping into them at a quick pace.
"this is going to be awkward, but can you zip me up at the back?" yoongi muttered and turned around so his back was facing hoseok, looking at the floor and counting up to ten when he felt hoseok's hand on his back, zipping him up gently.
"thank you." yoongi grinned when he turned back around to face hoseok, his face still red but no longer really embarrassed. just shy.
"you're welcome. now, put your shoes on because we have to go!"

the sightseer was pretty sure he had never seen that much food on one table in his entire life. chopsticks lay abandoned by the side of his bowl, wide eyes scanning all of the food that was free for him to take without paying or stealing.
"are you going to eat, yoongi-ah?" heechul spoke from his position at the top of the table, his chopsticks resting lazily in the slot between his thumb and forefinger.
"yes, your highness. i'm just not used to having such a large selection of food, i have no idea where to start." yoongi tried his hardest to not let his face flush a deep red colour, but it didn't work. his face was drowned in red.
"i can help!" hoseok cheered from beside yoongi, leaning over to remove yoongi's plate from the spot in front of him, loading it with food that yoongi had never seen.
"t-thank you, hoseok." yoongi smiled and took the bowl with two hands wrapped around the sides, bowing awkwardly and placing the bowl in front of him, finally picking up his chopsticks to attempt to eat.
to say the least, the food was so much better than the food he would be served at home. as much as he hates to shun his mother's cooking, she never had a variety of ingredients to cook with. meat was a luxury to him at home, and here in the castle it was the norm.
"is it okay?" hoseok muttered after swallowing down his food, leaning his chopsticks against the inside of his bowl and letting the ends linger in the remaining scraps of food.
"it's more than okay." yoongi returned, trying his hardest not to speak around a mouthful of food. the bites he took were exceptionally big.
"let me guess, you didn't have that much of a choice at home?"
"it was ramen, ramen, ramen or dirt. or, ramen." yoongi almost choked on the bite of food he had taken when hoseok burst into giggles, covering his mouth with the palm of his hand and gripping the cup of water a little tighter.
"that isn't exactly an exotic choice." hoseok spoke after he had controlled his breathing and calmed his laughter down to a quiet chuckle every time he thought of it.
"it really isn't, but i learned to live with it," yoongi swallowed his food and took a deep breath, a gleeful smile on his lips. "i have never eaten such good food in my entire life. it was truly amazing, your highnesses."
"it was no problem, yoongi-ah." eunha smiled and watched as yoongi placed two interlaced hands over his stomach, as if he was willing to hold it in his stomach forever and never let the food escape.
"now, it's getting quite late; the sun has already set. i think it is time for bed, do you not agree?" heechul was the first to stand and bow to the entirety around the table, followed by eunha and other close relatives of the royals. hoseok and yoongi hung back until the room was empty, then deciding to take their leave.
"your family are a lot more laid back than i thought they would be," yoongi admitted while the pair ascended the many stairs towards their bedrooms. "there's so many stories of your father being a ridiculously horrid man, and you being just like him. you're both so nice."
"is that a compliment or not?" hoseok chuckled, turning his fingers up to nudge against the sleeves of his robes, seeking comfort in the silliness of the material.
"yeah, that was a compliment." yoongi scratched gently at the back of his neck, letting his nails peel away small layers of skin and making the area slightly red.
"it looks like we're back. can you do me a favour, before we go to bed?" hoseok stood in front of yoongi and looked down slightly on him, having only being a little taller than him. all yoongi could muster was a nod.
"will you check my future? do i still have the...death aura?"
"i've only been here a day, hoseok-ah," yoongi laughed, placing a reassuring hand on hoseok's arm. honestly, it did feel a little better. "change won't happen overnight. but i'm not going anywhere. you'll be safe."
"thank you, yoongi hyung. i really appreciate you doing this for me."
at the moment, yoongi wasn't doing this for him. but he felt that soon enough, he would be.
