Mya's POV.

I woke up on time, full of energy. I felt like I'd slept five extra hours. Megan was gone, but I saw a note beside my bed from her.

Figure you came in last night. Didn't want to wake you. I was thinking we could do something tonight. I'll text you in the afternoon.

I set down the note, getting up to get dress and shower. I checked my phone, a message from Alex.. and Damion.

I opened Alex's first.

Alex: everyone met for breakfast and you're not here???

I replied, wondering if that's where Megan went.

Me: Megan there?

While waiting for his response, I opened Damion's message.

Damion: I want to talk.

I sighed, replying.

Me: when?

Damion: I'm free this evening it that works for you. I can meet you by your dorms around.. 5?

Me: I'll let you know.

My phone buzzed as Alex's name appeared across the top of my screen.

Alex: yeah. we're just associates Mya.. nothing more.

I left him on read, rushing to get ready for class. I checked my email, seeing it was another day of two classes to get used to the campus. I was relieved, not really feeling the idea of school.

At least we started on a Wednesday, so tomorrow would be Friday.

I walked alone on the way to class until Megan caught up with me. I turned and greeted her.

"Girl, you should have came to breakfast. It was so good." She gave me a small hug.

"Maybe next time." I replied.

"Alex said you two went out last night.. care to tell me?" She jokingly laughed.

"I don't know what I'm doing." I sighed.

"He told everyone at our table, he doesn't do that about any girl. Talk about them in a good way in public. Have to say I'm surprised." She admitted.

"He said we kissed?" My heart dropped.

"No. Just that you two were together. You kissed?" She looked surprised.

I put my hands over my face to laugh, nodding.

"Just be careful girl." Megan commented.

"My class is farther to the right, I'll catch up with you later. There's a bonfire tonight and I want to go. Think about it." She winked before walking off.

I continued my stroll to class, eventually running into Damion.

I gave him a small smile.

"Hey." He awkwardly greeted me.

"Hey Damion." I twitched my lips.

"Mya!" I cursed under my breath, recognizing Alex's voice.

I smiled as he ran up to me, giving me a hug.

"Did I miss anything?" He looked between me and Damion.

"Yeah, your girl was looking for you earlier." Damion scoffed, trailing off.

"What's he talking about?" I asked Alex, who casually shrugged.

"I guess you. He's just jealous." Alex assured me.

"Let me walk you to class, our class." He gave me a smile.

"I'm ready to move into my writing classes." I sighed. "Math isn't really my thing."

"Well you know I can help you with math. What are you doing tonight?" He peered at me, his eyes full of curiosity.

"Megan wants me to go to this bonfire but I don't know.. Damion wants to talk to me later." I said uneasily.

"About?" Alex's expression and tone of voice immediately shifted to frustration.

"I don't know." I honestly replied.

Alex scoffed. "Well have fun. I have a date anyways." He laughed, running off in front of me to greet some girls, whose faces lit up.

I was stupid to think Alex would only mess with me. I wondered what Damion was talking about when he said Alex's girl was looking for him. I tried to ignore how hurt I was, but I couldn't stop the tears from building up in my eyes.

I wish I never met Alex, never saw him last night, never kissed him and felt so infatuated in the idea of him.
