The Life Of A Barrel Racer {Wattys 2017}

Bad news...

Buck is limping...
We were going to practice barrels and I didn't warm him up enough. We think he pulled a muscle. I'm really worried about him right now.

At the barn we have 3 pastures. A mare pasture, gelding pasture, and an arena pasture. The arena pasture is where we put all of the "old" horses so that they won't be terrorized by the young ones. I'm thinking of moving Buck to the arena pasture so he won't get chased around while he's hurt.

This is the first time he's ever gotten hurt. All the other times were scratches or bites. This is the first problematic injury. I knew something was off when we ran our last pattern because he reared coming out of the first and last barrel. He would never do that unless he was in a lot of pain.
That's what really makes me sad. I didn't warm him up enough so he got hurt. He got hurt because of me. I'm going to go check him out this afternoon...

We have a show this weekend and I'll probably have to scratch...
