When class was dismissed Harry waited for Louis to get his bags so they could go to Harry's house once Anne would pick them up. He waited for a little bit when he saw Louis coming towards him with Nancy walking next to him. Harry smiled nervously and waited for Louis to say something.
"Hey Harry! I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm going to go to Nancy's house instead today. She wanted to show me her stuff that she got from California. She said she went to Hollywood and that she has an autograph from Leonardo Dicaprio, how cool is that? My mummy loves him. And guess what? She also has some flower crowns that she got from a shop in California! She said if her mum let's her, she'd let me have it." Louis exclaimed as he was walking with Nancy to what Harry assumed was her car.
"Uh o-okay, sure." Harry whispered and watched as Louis walked into the car and drove away. Harry stood there dumbfounded as to what just happened. He stood there for a couple more seconds before seeing his mom drive up, then he slowly walked towards his car, holding on tightly to his spiderman backpack.
Later that night Harry was waiting around the phone after dinner for Louis to call like he usually would at 8 PM. When the clock above the fireplace showed 8:30 he got impatient and grabbed the phone. He dialed the familiar number and looked around his nicely decorated living room as the phone rang. It rang for a couple of seconds before a women answered.
"'Ullo?"
"Hi Mrs. Deakin, I-I was wondering if Louis would be able to talk tonight?" Harry started to play with the loose threads that were laying on the side of his Teddy Bear's T-shirt, which he always hugged onto while talking to Louis as he waited for the response.
"Oh Hi Harry! I'm sorry, but Louis just got home a couple of minutes ago and he went straight to bed. Is there anything important you wanted to tell him?"
Harry looked at the floor then shook his head softly before speaking,
"Uhm no, I just wanted to talk to him l-like usual."
"I'm sorry honey, do you want me to wake him up? Or maybe leave a message for him?"
Harry said a simple, 'no it's ok' then quickly said goodbye. He stayed playing with the loose thread of the old shirt as he watched some cartoons on the tv. Not knowing what else to do, he grabbed Mr. Bear and slowly walked upstairs to fall asleep thinking about Louis.
The next morning Harry was tired. He hadn't gotten enough sleep from the night before, he just kept thinking about Louis and why he was losing him as a friend. Was he not enough for Louis? Did Louis get tired of having to carry on the conversations for the both of them? Harry just let out a heavy sigh and began to put on the clothes his mom had picked out the night before.
Once he had brushed his hair and his teeth and finished getting ready, he headed downstairs and saw Anne getting his lunch prepared.
"Good morning Bub! I hope you slept well, I'm making you a peanut butter and jelly sandwich today. We ran out of lunchables yesterday and I didn't have time to go to the market and get some more." Anne finished wrapping the sandwich and stuffed it into Harry's Beatles lunch box. Anne had bought him the lunch pail after the brown bag incident. Harry was at school when the ugly brown bag had accidently ripped and dropped his food onto the floor. Anne had to get out of work early and bring him home as to calm him down from his panic attack.
"Thank you mummy." Harry whispered and lightly put his lunch into his backpack. He sluggishly began to eat his banana and orange juice.
"Am I expecting Louis over tonight? He didn't come over yesterday." Harry began to tear up for what seemed like the 100th time and looked up at his mum with teary eyes. He shrugged sadly and continued to eat his small breakfast. Anne walked around the table and engulfed him into a hug. She then pulled away and whipped the tears from his face with the palm of her hand.
"Are you okay, love?" Harry just nodded his head and hugged her again.
They stayed like that for a few minutes before the loud honk of the school bus was heard. Harry quickly gave his mum a kiss on the cheek and headed out the door.
