A few months went by, all the while Louis and Harry became closer. Anne and Jay, Louis' mom, became friends due to all the time both boys spent together. During school Louis would help Harry talk to other kids or the teachers and at home, Harry would help Louis with what color flowers his crowns should be or which stuffed animals are going to marry each other for the day. Together Louis and Harry, or as Anne and Jay liked to call them - Larry, became an unstoppable team. They didn't bother with other friends because all they needed were each other. They were now in 3rd grade and a couple of days before Louis' birthday (and Christmas), a new kid was admitted into their class.
"Good morning class, I hope you all had a goodnight's sleep. We have a new student today. I hope you're all nice to her and treat her fairly. Why don't you tell the class your name and where you came from?" Mr. Pope greeted the class then let the new student stand in front of the class.
"I'm Nancy, and I came from California. From the United States."
Small gasps were heard around the class and a few people whispered 'cool'. Louis looked up at the girl and was mesmerized. He'd heard about California and how nice it is from is mom. He'd always wanted to go and he thought the accents they had were nice. So when it came to picking a seat in the class Louis was enthusiastically telling Nancy to sit next to him. Harry was on the other side of Louis frantically pulling on his arm, trying to make him stop. However Nancy was walking towards their table already, and as soon as she sat down Louis sat closer to her.
"Hi Nancy, I'm Louis!" Louis excitedly grabbed her hand and shook it.
"Nice to meet you Louis. Who's he?" Nancy looked at Harry who was slumping down in his chair looking at his hands.
"Oh, that's Harry. He's real nice, he just doesn't talk much."
That was the last time they mentioned Harry for the rest of the day. They spoke about Hollywood and the beaches and the people of California while Harry kept his head low and tired to pay attention in class. When lunchtime came around, the whole class was escorted to the cafeteria and Harry started walking to his and Louis' usual spot when he noticed Louis going to another table. He walked up to Louis who was standing next to Nancy and quickly glanced at their intertwined hands before looking back up at Louis.
"H-Hey Lou, are we sitting somewhere new? Let me go get m-my lunch and I'll go sit with you guys." Harry went to turn around and grab his stuff when Louis stopped him.
"I'm just going to go talk to Sarah and Jimmy about how Nancy saw an actual shark at the beach one time. You can come listen if you want." Louis said.
"Oh." Harry looked towards where Jimmy sat and shook his head. "No, i-it's ok. I'll just sit with you tomorrow."
"Are you sure?" Louis asked him, unsure if he should leave him or not.
"Yeah. I-It's fine Lou." Harry hugged himself and walked away. He sat alone again for the first time he met Louis.
