Platform 9 3/4 was packed and smokey, as an eleven year old Leigh Narrowmore climbed onto the Hogwarts Express; at eleven on September the First 1971, waving goodbye.
Suddenly, she heard a loud BANG! coming from down the corridor. Curious of the cause; she followed the sound of laughter and muffled voices. She stopped in front of a compartment with, what looks like, sparkly smoke coming from under the door.
As she slide the compartment door open, she heard a boy say, "I told you 'Don't do it', and you did it."
When she has the door open all the way, she found the whole compartment, occupants included, covered in glitter.
"Umm..." Leigh said nervously.
"Hi!" Exclaimed one of the occupants, a very short girl, as the other said, "I didn't do it!" Raising his hands innocently, still holding his wand.
"Umm... Hi..." Leigh said unsure to the girl; then she turned to the guy and asked, "If you didn't do it then why is your wand out?"
He slowly lowered his hands and shoved them into his sweaters pouch, "I was trying to stop her?" He said unsure.
"Uh..." Leigh paused then turned to the girl. "What were you trying to do?"
She looked at her male companion then turned back to Leigh, "I don't know; I was just trying to make some sparkles whileJay here was waving his wand around; making bubbles for me. I guess sparkles and bubbles aren't supposed to mix." She replied while shrugging.
Leigh looked at her for a second then said, "You know if you were to use a similar spell; which I'm sure the library at Hogwarts would have somewhere, you might be able to make it work. I could help you if you like," then smiled at her.
She looked at Leigh for a minute, then smiled back. "See, Jay, I knew it was possible to make sparkly bubbles!" She exclaimed to 'Jay'.
Leigh laughed then held out her hand to shake saying, "I'm Leigh Narrowmore, first year, it's nice to meet you."
"I'm Kat Willson, and this is my older twin brother, Jay. We're first years too!" Kat said while shaking Leigh's hand and pointing to her twin.
Jay raised his hand in a wave; then asked, "Did you want to sit with us? I might need a bit of help keeping Kat out of trouble."
"Sure I would love to sit with you two," Leigh replied. She moved to one of the seats next to the door, to sit down then thought better of it, and waved her wand; cleaning the whole compartment, Kat and Jay included. "There. Much better."
They spend a few hours talking and getting to know one another. As they talked about their parents; the topic of blood status and Houses came up.
"We're half; our mum is a witch and our dad is a muggle. When he found out, he was really excited. I think he was more excited about us getting our letters then we were," Jay said with a small smile.
"Yeah, you should have seen him when the owl arrived. He was yelling at us to hurry up and open them. Hahaha! He was basically jumping with excitement." Kat continued. "Our mum was a Hufflepuff. She always said Hufflepuff was the best house."
My dad was a Hufflepuff too. My mum was a Ravenclaw." Leigh said.
"So that means you're a pure-blood, right?" Kat asked nervously.
"Yeah, but don't worry, I'm not like the other pure-bloods. My parents taught me that nobody is better then anyone else," Leigh reassured her new friends. "Why did your mum think Hufflepuff was the best house?"
