Year One With the Marauders

The Apples

As the weeks pass; September comes to a close and October glides in to take its place. The weather gets a little cooler and apples start showing up on the tables at meal times. Leigh and the twins wander around the Castle talking about homework and the random gossip on the school.

As they wander around Leigh is eating and apple while seeming to have a hard time carrying her bag.

"Why did you even bring your bag?" Jay finally asks after watching Leigh shift it; from one shoulder to the other, for the unknown number of times.

Leigh looks at Jay nervously before laughing unconvincingly saying, "No reason..."

"Hey, Jay," Kat says.

"Yeah, Kat?"

"What should the story be about tonight?" She asks nervously.

"What story?" Leigh asks; happy for the subject change.

"Oh, Kat has gotten into a weird habit of telling Tuff bedtime stories." Jay explains. "They tend to have a chicken in it; but some how it always does..."

"No! Not all the time!" Kat says smiling. "Just the other night the chicken gained control of the whole universe!"

Jay rolls his eyes at his younger twin; while Leigh stiffles a laugh behind her hand.

"Sound interesting," she says, after her giggles stop.

As they turn a corner; Leigh trips, and bag goes sliding across the floor. As it slides a bunch of apples and one lone book falls out. Leigh jumps up and starts shoving the apples back into her bag.

Kat smirks and asks, "Whatcha got there?"

Leigh; holding the lone book, holds it up and says, "...a book...?"

Kat starts laughing while Jay just shakes his head with his head in his hand.

"Where did all these apples come from?"

They hear a different voice ask. They look around the corridor and find James, and Sirius with two other boys; Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew.

Leigh looks up to Remus and smiles, while he looks down and smiles back.

Kat noticing whispers quietly, " I ship it..."

"Are those yours, Narrowmore?" Kat looks over to see it was James talking.

"Yeah, they are. Why? Did you want some?" Kat asks.

"Kat! Those are MY apples!" Leigh protests. "You can't give them away!"

"What are you doing with that many apples?" Remus asks innocently.

" I like apples.." Leigh replies shyly.

James and Sirius looks at each other then start laughing; while Petet slowly joins them.

"Guys, come on," Remus interrupts their laughter; he bends down and starts to help picked up the apples. "Here, I'll help you; if no one else is going to."

"Thanks, Remus," Leigh says surprised.

After all of Leigh's apples are put back into her bag; and Remus is carrying it, and the two groups start making their way to the Great Hall for lunch time.

"I wonder what's for lunch," Sirius says as he glances at Jay. "I hope it's chicken."

Jay perks up at that comment and glares at Sirius.

"You leave Tuff alone," Leigh warns, giving Sirius a death glare.

Sirius takes a step away, a little scared of the Hifflepuff and the Slytherin standing behind him. He moves to walk on the other side of the group from them; next to Peter who is also a little scared, but mostly of Leigh.
