"We're home!!" Oliver yelled as he shut the door behind us
"Oh sweetie!" Mrs. Clyde walked up to us from out the kitchen "why didn't you tell me you were going out for a while!?"
"I thought I told you mom!?" Oliver exclaimed. He moved his fingers behind his back, signaling me to go up to my room. We had created a type of sign language over the years.
"Umm, Mrs. Clyde? May I go up to my room? I have a heap of homework to do..." I peeped in making an excuse
She looked at me and her expression changed, "of course dear, you are excused" she then looked at Oliver and gave him a death glare,"as for you, you are explaining!"
I quickly walked past them and walked up the stairs, I looked back at Oliver, who was calmly taking in the blame and the nagging. I mouthed the word 'sorry' towards him. He smiled and instantly looked back at Mrs. Clyde, nodding at her every word. I chuckled silently and headed to my room.

I took off my headphones and looked up at the clock. It was 8:00 pm. I stood up from my desk and stretched. I took my phone and started to walk downstairs. I whiff savoury smells went under my nose, Mrs. Clyde was cooking dinner as usual. I walked in the living room to find Oliver sprawled across almost half of the couch. I walked past him and sat on the little space he didn't occupy.
"Can you at least sit properly, there's manners for a reason you know" I said glancing at him,"and I bet those manners were made for complete pigs like you"
"Who gives a damn, I'm at home anyways" he said changing the channel multiple times,"why do you care anyway, sometimes I see you in a sweater and leggings, eating a whole bag of chips" he smirked
I put my hand against my chest, clearly offended, "at least I don't skip baths for weeks" I smiled deviously at him
He scoffed,"I was going through a phase that time, don't blame me..." He looked away, defeat clearly spread across his face
I smiled to myself in victory and started to play games on my phone.
"Dinner's ready!!" Mrs. Clyde shouted
