Depression does not always mean
Silent screamers shattering at the wrists
A glorified, heroic battle for your sanity
Or sobbing mothers who never got a chance to say good-byeSometimes depression means
Not leaving my bed for the entire weekend
Because my feet refuse to believe
That they will not break the instant they touch the floorSometimes depression means
Lying on the floor
Because I cannot convince my body
That it is capable of movementSometimes depression means
Not writing for weeks
Because the only words I have to offer
Are 'trapped' and 'drowning' and 'I swear I'm trying'Sometimes depression means
That each bone in my body aches
But I have to keep going
Because I are not allowed skip school, saying I'm 'depressed'Sometimes depression means
Ignoring every text for an entire month
Because yes, they have the right number
But I'm are not the person they're looking for, not anymore.
