Ashton's P.O.V

After the initial shock of it all, Luke took everything way better than I thought he would. I was sure he was going to call me a liar and we would go without speaking again, but I'm glad I was wrong. It was nice for a human to know the truth. Luke was actually very curious about how I grew up and I was happy to answer any questions he had.

Well, that is until we got to the part where I had to tell him what my options were.

"So, what did the Alpha offer you?" Luke asks curiously.

I froze and stayed silent. I genuinely liked Luke because he was kind, trustworthy, respectful, and so incredibly beautiful; I didn't want him to think I was using him to trick my way out of it.

"Ash? Are you okay?" Luke asks, bringing me from my thoughts.

"What? Oh, yes, I'm quite fine, thank you," I tell him. He waits as though he still is expecting a response, which I knew from experience, that he was quite persistent.

I sigh and lay down on my stomach, with my feet towards the bottom of Luke's bed.

"He said that if I could find love in the human world, then I could be free to live in the human world for the rest of my life. Of course, the person I were to fall in love with would have to return the feelings. There is no way to fake these feelings, they have to be genuine, but I have until the next full moon; otherwise, I will be a lone wolf for all eternity. The next full moon rises in 22 days and I'm afraid that the person I am growing feelings for, does not return the feelings," I tell him. I felt ashamed of myself. I wasn't sure why; I just feel so open and vulnerable. I avoid eye contact, so I look towards the window.

Luke stays quiet for a while. I wasn't sure if he was still sorting through things, or something else, but I was getting rather impatient. I needed to know what was on his mind; I needed to know what he thought of me.

"Just say something!" I yell towards the boy.

I not only see Luke flinch, but I feel the bed move as well. I sigh and bury my face into my hands.

"I'm sorry, that was very harsh. I still have yet to learn how to act human. I'm trying to not let my anger get the best of me, but it's quite difficult at times," I explain to him.

I hear Luke let out a sigh as I feel him copy my position before speaking.

"I know you're still adjusting; this must so confusing to you," he says.

I scoff. "You have no idea. I thought I had learned enough from watching your family, but I was so very wrong."

Luke nods and thinks for a moment. "That was you, wasn't it? In my backyard that day, I mean," he asks in a quiet voice.

"Yeah, that was me. You know, I was breaking ever fiber in my being by pushing that ball back to you. I was always told to stay away from humans, but there I was, interacting then later sleeping by a human. I was with my only two friends when you kicked that ball into the forest. Of course, them being the smart ones they ran off, but me, I stayed to see what you would do," I explain to him.

"You know, that night when I found you, I kept asking myself why you felt and looked so familiar to me, but now that I know all of this, everything just clicks into place," he tells me with a small chuckle.

"Wait, I look familiar to you?" I ask, confused. I was human now, how would he say I look familiar?

"Definitely," he says. "Your hair is the basically the same shade as your fur was, you have the same muscular body structure, but it's your eyes that were always the most familiar. It's like they were the only things that didn't change when the rest of you did."
