I nervously look around the bar, but I cannot see him.
“Jane, what’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost?”
“It’s Jason, he’s here.”
Jade’s eyes widened. Just as I wanted to say something, I see him. Back in the bar. My hearts starts to beat fast as I see him slowly coming our way. Shit he’s really here… for me. As he moves smoothly through the crowd, his hazel nut hair done perfectly, and his golden eyes burn into mine. I can’t see the emotion in them, anger? Scared? Pity? His mouth is set in a grin line. And his jaw looked tense. Fuck. He’s here. I’m so mad at him right now. No not just mad, furious. How can he keep such a big secret from me? When he knew my past. He arrived a tour table and my eyes where still big my cheeks where red and my mouth probably had an O shape. How can I be mad at him with jade here? He’s as always dressed like god dressed him himself. Customary white linen shirt and jeans. “Hi.” I let out in a squeak, still in shock.
“Hi.” He replies, leaning down giving me a kiss on my cheek. Wow, what?
I shudder getting further away from him trying to make it unnoticeable.
“Jason this is my best friend Jade.” I say out of politeness.
He turns to greet Jade. Her eyes where wide, and her mouth made a bigger O than mine. I mean I won’t blame her. She always knew his story, but not once saw his appearance. Which if you haven’t noticed, was extremely hot. “Jade, I am delighted to meet you.” He said taking her hand. Ugh stop those expensive words Jason. I’m still mad. And to only make it worse he gives here the oh so known Jason McCann smile. Jason and his fucking pearly white teeth. Now Jades lower jaw probably hit the table. Get a grip Jade remember who he is? “Jason.” She finally let out. “What are you doing here?” I ask a little bit to harsh. His eyes jumped back to mine still twinkling. “I’m here to see you of course.” He said.
“Where are you staying?”
“In this hotel actually.” He says looking around.
“How long are you staying here?”
“I thought you wanted me to be here?” Jason asked a little hurt by my tone and coldness.
“Why won’t you join us for a drink Jason.” Jade interrupts looking at me in a warning look. WTF weren’t you the one who told me to stay away from him? She waves to the waiter and he comes over to us. “I’ll have a gin and tonic.” Jason says. “Hendricks if you have, or Bombay Sapphire. Cucumber with the Hendricks, lime with the Bombay.” Holy Cow… Only Jason knows how to make dinner for five out of one drink. “And two more Bacardi’s. ” I add as the waiter walks away. Jason joins us by taking a seat next to me.
“So you just happen to be staying in the hotel where we’re drinking?” I ask.
“Or, you just happened to be drinking at the hotel I’m staying.” I roll my eyes and see him watching me. I suddenly turn anxious.
“So Jane and I’ve been shopping today.” Jade interrupts our awkward silence.
“You bought that top today?” Jason said looking at my new turquoise top, I nod.
“The colour looks beautiful on you, plus you’ve caught some sun. You look lovely.” I was overwhelmed by compliments and blushed, speechless.
“I was going to surprise you tomorrow but yet, here you are Jane. Always one step ahead of me.” He said taking my hand and drawing circles on it very slowly. As much as I’m disgusted by him. And I want nothing to do with him; I can’t help but feel the electric charge zapping through my whole body. I glance quickly at Jade who’s staring at Jason. Yes staring! Stop it Jade. As if he’s some Greek god. I mean I know I never had a boyfriend, beside Chris. But was it that hard to believe he would be attracted to me? Yes – frankly look at him. My subconscious told me. Jade suddenly interrupts everything again. “Jason it truly is a pleasure to finally meet you. Jane has spoken so fondly about you.” My eyes widen. Shut up jade! Jason small grin turns into a smirk and his eyes wonder over to mine. “Really now.” He cocks his eyebrow at me. And I flush.
