Kairi's POV

I sat at home sketching in my sketchbook. My parents had gone on a business trip leaving me to look after Akio for a few days. I finished my drawing and quickly got bored, so I went downstairs and turned on the tv. Akio sat on the living room floor while I sat on the couch.

"This just in! A private jet's engine exploded while on its way out of Paris. There were no surviving passengers reported. All I can say is that I wish the best of luck to the family," the news reporter said. The tv switched to show a picture of the crashed jet. Wait a minute....

I look at it closer. That's the family jet.

I break down in tears. Akio seems to notice and rushes to my side.

"Kai what wrong?"

"M-mom and D-dad w-w-were on that f-flight.... T-they're dead!"

That just sends Akio into a wave of tears.

~Time Skip~

I had gotten Akio to bed and was currently sitting in the living room watching tv when the telephone rang. I went over and picked it up.

"Hello is this the De Vaux household?" A masculine voice said on the other line.

"Yes this is Kairi De Vaux speaking, may I ask who this is?"

"I am an officer that was working at the jet crash. I'm sorry to say but your parents have perished."

"Y-yeah I figured it out when it aired on the news..."

"Oh well I'm very sorry for your loss but I was calling to inform you that since there are only minors in the house right now you must move out to live with an older relative or friend or be placed in an orphanage."

"I will contact a relative and try to work things out."

Okay miss and again I'm sorry for your loss."

I hang up, tears threatening to fall.

I have to call Luca.

I grab my phone and dial his home phone.

It rings once. Twice. I wonder if he'll even let us move in with him.

"Hello?" Luca's groggy voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Luca, you picked up!" I cry.

"Of course! What's bothering you baby sis?" I didn't even care that he called me baby sis, I was distraught at the moment.

"M-mom and D-dad died in a plane crash, did you know that?"

"I watched the news...."

"Anyway I wanted to ask you if me and Akio could move in with you? Since you know you can't exactly have a couple of 'minors' living by themselves."

"Of course! I was actually thinking of moving to a bigger house! So this is a good opportunity."

"Thank you Luca!"

"Of course anything for my baby sister."

"Ok I have a few months to pack up and stuff so you have time."

"Okay just call if you need anything. I'm gonna call the school to let them know you'll be missing school okay?"

"Yeah okay. Luca I gotta go I can hear Akio waking up."

"Okay bye love you."

"Love you too."

I hang up as Akio makes his way down the stairs he small arms clutching his black cat plushie.

"Akio honey what are you doing up?" I scoop him up in my arms.

"Who were you talking to?"

"Luca, he's gonna let us move in with him."

"Oh ok..."

"It's ok we're still gonna be in Paris just not in this exact spot."

"Okay..."

"Now go back to sleep we have a busy day tomorrow."
