(Francisco Lachowski as Angelo)
I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Something stronger than anything I have ever felt before suddenly took a hold of me. Intense brown eyes met my grey ones. A variety of emotions ran through his eyes, making me look at him in awe. He was strikingly attractive: Dark hair, strong jawline. He was about a foot taller than me. He would have been intimidating to an average human. But I found him so intriguing, so irresistible.
"Mine," he said, his voice sending chills down my spine. Please, speak again... But out of nowhere, I was tackled down to the floor, breaking me from a dreamy daze. The strong smell of werewolf was more prominent in the room now, making me realize that there were no humans in this class. I was surrounded by wolves as they glared at me. Their stance made me realize that they were looking for me, waiting for me. The mid-forties man that came in the room with pine cones and mint was the one who tackled me. His eyes black as his grip on my arm tighten. By the power and dominance he was giving off, I knew he was an Alpha.
"Why are you here, vampire?" His voice was filled with disgust. The rest of the wolves growled in agreement. Before I could say anything, pine cones and mint attempted to pry the Alpha off me.
"Dad! Get off her!" He yelled as pulled on the Alpha's shoulder.
"Angelo! Don't you see that she's a vampire!" He growled. Seeing that he was a bit distracted, I brought my knee up and kicked him in the place where the sun doesn't shine. His grip loosened as he groaned in pain. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I yanked an arm from his grip and punched his nose with so much power to send him flying backwards. Using my vampire speed, I got up and stood on a desk, crouching in an attack position. The door was blocked by wolves. I had no escape and I was outnumbered.
The Alpha man was muttering curses as he got up and glared at me. "Why are you here, vampire?" He asked again. I can sense the anger in his voice. I smirked. Alphas were so impatient and easily angered. I stood up straight on the desk, no longer in my attack position.
"This is no one's territory. So I'm allowed here." I answered as I raised an eyebrow, challenging him to argue. Judging by the way his eyes went back to his normal color, he knows I'm right. My gaze shifted to Angelo, who was standing next to the Alpha man. He was looking at me with admiration, lust and something else. But when he found me staring at him, he masked his emotions. When he took a step towards me, I crouched down, biting my lip. I felt helpless. I didn't have the upper hand in this situation. He came to a halt, hurt flashed through his eyes.
"Listen, Vamp, and listen well! We don't want your kind here. So I suggest you leave." The alpha hissed out. I sighed. The smell of wolves was starting to bother me. I felt their heat in the room, suffocating me. The blood pumping through their bodies filled my ears. I got down from the desk and picked up my stuff, making it look like I was listening to his orders. When I had all my things in hand, I turned to look at Angelo and his dad.
"I came here to learn calculus, not argue with stinky mutts. But by judging by my calculus teacher," My gaze shifted to the werewolf who was behind the teacher's desk. "I'm recommended to take Algebra 2. Well, that's what I'm going to tell my guidance counselor. I'll notify them that I'll be switching classes. Thanks for the recommendation," I looked the teacher's nameplate. "Mr. Novak." I walked to the door with a smirk on my face. The men standing at the door looked at the Alpha with confusion on whether they should let me pass. But I didn't wait until they got an order. I punched the guy on the right and pushed him toward the other guy, giving me space to get through. And then I ran.
Before I even exited the school building, the memory of Maya flashed through my head. I could hear feet pounding the floor behind me and the sweet pine cone and mint smell getting stronger. Shit! Using my vampire speed, I ran to the elementary building. When I got to the front door of the building, I speed down to the main office.
"I'm here to pick up Maya Mackenz," I told the slim woman who was playing an interesting game of Sudoku.
"You are?" she asked, slightly annoyed.
"Jewels Mackenz, her sister, and guardian. I forgot that she has a...doctors appointment in an hour." She nodded and punched a couple of keys on her computer, then picked up her phone and dialed a number. "Yes, Rose? I was wondering if you could send down a Miss Maya Mackenz? And tell her to bring her stuff, please? Her sister came to pick her up. Mhmm mhhmm thanks rose, un huh, bye." I was starting to get anxious as the lady made me wait in their little waiting room. What if he finds me? Suddenly two little arms and the sweetest voice ever clung to me.
"Juju? Why are we going home early?" I smiled down at Maya as we walked out of the office.
"Uh, I just need to bring you home earlier. You know, we still need to unpack and decorate your room." I lied as good as I could and I must say, it was a pretty good lie. Maya smiled up at me as we walked toward the car. I suddenly felt myself being ripped away from Maya and being crushed against someone's chest. Pine cones and mint.
"Why did you run away from me, mate?" Angelo growled out. My eyes widen. Mate. How come I forgot at the way he whispered mate at me like ten minutes ago? I was his mate. I was a werewolf's mate. No. This isn't possible. I looked down at Maya, causing Angelo to follow my gaze. His eyes widen.
"Hey, Big guy. Are you her boyy-friendd?" She asked drawing out each syllable.
"N-" I started to say but was rudely cut off.
"Yes, and who are you?" Angelo asked.
Maya flips her hair over her shoulder dramatically. I rolled my eyes. She's such a drama queen. "I'm Maya, Jewels' little sister, what's your name?"
Angelo looks at me curiously. He knows Maya and I are not blood. We don't look alike and I'm a vampire. Angelo looked down at Maya. "I'm Angelo, and aren't you the cutest thing?" Maya smiled at me and started to ask if Angelo could come over for dinner. I looked up at him and felt as if I couldn't say no. I was his mate. And he hasn't done anything drastically wrong to make me hate or dislike him. Well, only one thing. One huge thing. He's a werewolf. We are natural enemies, so why am I his mate?
"Uh. Sure. But you have to ask him, Maya. You can't just assume. What if he has plans? What if-"
"I don't have plans. I would love to come over for dinner."
I bit my lip. Great. But as much as I dreaded dinner with him, I also felt a bit excited. Maya and I waved Angelo a goodbye as we walked to my car. After strapping Maya in her booster seat, I got in and made my way home. Maya kept giggling and saying, "Jewels and Angelo sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" I groaned. What have I gotten myself into?
