Chapter 6 - Horse Butt

I rushed out of the library and ran after him.

If he was really Ko ko, I'd better not miss my chance now...

After running what seemed like 800 meters, I got hold of him with my hand on his shoulder.

He turned around, looking a little worried. "Oh My, why are you panting?" he stroked my back as I supported myself with my hands on my knees, bending forward.

"Your wallet," I gave it to him when I finally caught my breath. "and your photo."

"Oh," he took his stuff from me. "thanks."

He turned around and walked away.

I grabbed his wrist.

"Anything?" he asked without turning around.

Then, my eyes caught hold of something behind his left ear.

Left ear? Hmm..... oh!

I let go of his wrist and checked his left ear.

Holy Crap, it's the same birthmark.

I froze. "I....."

"What's wrong?" he turned around and asked as he put his right hand on my shoulder.

Right hand. Right hand? Hmm... My brain was turning.

Then I had a short flashback of my brother falling and his right palm got wounded.

I looked at my left knee. Then I looked into his eyes.

If this guy doesn't have our mark, just walk away.

I took his right hand off my shoulder and examined his palm.

Tears trickled down my cheeks.

"Why are you crying?" he asked, sounding alarmed. I let go of his right hand. He used his thumb to wipe my tears away.

He's back.

He's finally back .

He's finally back to wipe my tears away.

I threw my arms around him. I hugged him as tight as I could.

I was too happy to say anything.

He hugged me back tighter.

"I missed you, Mei." he said. I felt the back of my shirt getting a little wet.

Oh, he's crying.

My cheeks were wet, and so was his shirt.

I couldn't take it, I missed him terribly.

"Ko, I'm so proud you're already a first-aider."

"I'm proud that you're one too. Now we can help people together." he said while I felt his breath inhaling deeply at my neck to remember my scent.

Then, I pulled myself away from his embrace and poked his waist.

"Ah!" he shouted. "What was that for?"

"You, horse butt!" I sulked. "Did you really have to flirt with me in the library just now?"

He came closer to me and held me by my waist. "Oh, so someone forgot how much I used to annoy them, huh?" then he started tickling me.

I was laughing so loud like a mad woman on the loose.

When he finally stopped, he said, "Music to my ears. It's been a while since I heard you laugh."

"So, you flirt with every pretty girl you meet like that?" I teased him.

"Nah," he said. "I don't flirt."

Then, he poked my waist. "I only did that just to bother you, because I missed annoying you so much."

I poked his waist back. "Horse butt!"

"You should have seen your face when you were ignoring me; it was SO cute!" he approached me and pinched both of my cheeks.

I looked into his brown eyes. I stared at him silently. He stopped pinching my cheeks.

"What's wrong, Mei?" he asked.

I started crying again.

He pulled me closer to him and he hugged me, stroking my head. "Don't worry, Mei. Ko ko's here."

"Ko," I called him.

"Yeah?" he answered but he didn't let go of the hug.

"I missed you." I said in a muffled voice as my face was buried in his chest.

He stroked my hair. "I know, Sephine. I know."

I pulled away from the hug. "And..."

I ran back to the library to grab all my stuff. I unzipped my pencil case and took out a roll of duct tape.

"I am SO gonna tape you to the wall when we get back home!"

"If you can catch me!" he said and started running.

I smiled and chased after him,

Just like how we used to when we were young.

I had no idea where were we running to,

but at that time, nothing mattered,

because he was back.

And with Ko ko,

I never had to be afraid of anything -

ever again

because my biggest fear of losing him forever,

is now gone.

I thank God for letting him come back safely and also for letting him grow into a very fine young man who stills loves me as his little sister.

Thank you, God for gifting me the best brother in my life. I will cherish him forever, just like how he cherishes me everyday.

I promise I will take care of him just like how he takes care of me, and I will never put him in a position where I can lose him ever again.

"Hey, Mei!" he called out to me. " You run kind of slow these days... are you getting fatter?"

"Did you just call me..." I shouted and increased my speed.

I caught up with him and slapped his back.

"Ow! You caught me."

"Horse butt."
