( AUTHORS NOTE: thanks guys, this is my first story so don't judge. Shout out to Asha Brady for helping me complete it! ) Today is my test. The one that decides my future, my friends and my powers. Apparently we are fairies. Humans think we are cheerful and multicoloured with transparent ( see through ) wings. Some fairies laugh at that. We are almost the opposite. Only renameds had wings. They are black and soft like a newly born baby bird. I could get 1 of the following powers: water, air, darkness, light, earth, fire, ice, or I could get none. If I got none then they would erase my memory and send me to earth. I'm scared. Mum's in air. I'm scared it will tell me to go, but even more scared that it will tell me to stay. Only one can win

I stumble though the testing room door. This year it a midnight black. Every year they change it to satisfy the power houses. I look at Claire ( the tester ) .She sits me in a sky blue chair."what will happen to me?" I ask curiously.
" The less you know the better." She replies. Whatever's going to happen, it's going to bad. I know that by the tone of her voice. I try to relax. It doesn't work. She hands me an orange liquid. "Drink it." She says.
"Why?"
"Drink it." She repeats. I frown at her.
"I need to know what I getting into." I say, slightly annoyed.
" Just drink it! The less you know the better!"
I quickly swallow it, shocked by the sudden screaming. Then everything is black.

I awake in a black room. I can hear the constant dripping of water, and the echo of my steps. Just let it. I think. I take a deep breath and crouch to the ground. My hand stumbles upon a torch. It's too dark to find the button, but I do eventually . I manage a strangled gasp. I see a scaly green monster. He hasn't seen me yet, but he will if I leave torch on. I keep it on anyway. "Who are you." I say. His eyes flicker. "Who are you." I say louder. I stand looking at the creature's back. "Who are you!" I scream. He spins suddenly, facing me. I whimper. He has one blind eye. The good eye is blood red. Don't show fear. He is like a dog. He can smell my fear. I inhale deeply. The monster runs towards me. I just stand still, too shocked to move. The his fist collides with my face, forcing my instincts to kick in. I kick him in the leg and he collapses ( falls ) to the floor. I hold my hand to my face. There is blood. An awful lot of it too. The monster is groaning, supporting its leg with its arm. I'm about to kick him when I hear a familiar voice saying "Don't hurt him!"- My mothers voice. I put my foot away. This is a test. Not real. The scaly beast summons the last of his strength to jump on top of me. I scream. I find my torch and shine it on him eyes. He turns to dust, and the room vanishes.

I wake to sweaty hands and warm tears.
