Alex's POV
You're afraid of heights?" She asks me.
I nod, and her shock breaks into a smile.
No. She wouldn't dare.
She whispers one of her chants, and my eyes widen as her grip on my hands loosen, letting me go.
"**** YOU GENEVIEVE ROYALE!!!" I scream before hearing a faint laugh in the distance.
I have now reached the clouds, coming closer to my death.
My heart is pounding in my chest, and my screams become more desperate, more urgent.
Genevieve was actually going to kill me. Once I hit the ground . . . . .
If I tried to kill Gen then she could create a barrier, or teleport.
I don't have those powers.
I know it's only a mile high, but it feels like 1,000,000.
I see up higher, Gen dives through the air, her silky black wings spreading Behind her. She keeps going down until she's gliding next to me.
"You idiot!" She screams, trying to talk over the rushing wind.
"Do you think I'd actually let you die?!"
Then it occurs to me,
No. No she wouldn't.
I am a metre off the ground when I stop to a halt.
I breathe deeply as I realise that I'm not dead.
I won't die.
This was all a joke.
My eyes burn as if there are tears.
Maybe there are.
Once I get to my feet, Gen speaks.
"Want to go again?" She jokes.
I immediately shake my head, my eyes wide.
"Definitely not."
She laughs.
I force myself to join her, but after a while it comes out naturally.
This reminds me of a song.

I ponder of something terrifying
Cause this time there's not sound to hide behind
I find the course of our human existence
One thing consists if consistence.
And it's that we're battling fear
Oh dear, I don't know why I'm here,
Oh my,
Too deep
Please stop thinking
I liked it better when my car had sound.

That's what I did.
I battled fear all on my own.
But that's a lie.
The girl I am willing to die for, was with me.
She helped me battle it.
She set it all up
Even though it was mostly a coincidence, she still did it.
But the part about not knowing why I'm here is true too.
I honestly don't know why I'm still living.
I should have died long ago.
Twelve long years ago.
That was before Alexandra was queen.
It was queen Lauren back then.
She wanted my head.
I disobeyed the rules, and she wanted my head for it.
Genevieve killed her.
There was this whole war on who would be queen next.
Of course Alexandra won, with her mighty power and all.
She still wants my head too.
I think.
Maybe she's gotten over it, but knowing her, she'll never forgive.
We're not in air or water!
We don't go by the rules "Forgive and Forget!"
I honestly think that air should also be a peace maker.
Not just water.
Gen's voice snaps me back into reality.
"Hey! You! Yes you! Are you in there? ALEX!!!!"
"Ok, ok." I say.
She smiles.
"Let's go." I say simply.
She nods and laces her hands in mine,
and walk to our hill.
