I want to freeze this moment; you in that beautiful black dress with bits and pieces of glittering sequins and beads, walking towards me at the center of the dance floor, flashing me that lovely and heart-warming smile you've always possessed and choosing to bet against all odds the peculiarity of our relationship - two girls in love with each other.
I held your hand and slowly guided it up to my shoulder. You locked it in place on my shoulder blade and smiled at me, shades of pink have now appeared on both of your cheeks. I can tell how much you have looked forward to this moment and I share the same sentiments with you.
Our free hands met and intertwined, we circled around the dance floor as if we were the only people there. Your smile, contagious as ever, affected me and made me reciprocate. The lights slowly dimmed around us but the mood and the feels were still the same - romantic and intimate.
You wrapped your arms around my neck then and mine was wrapped around your waist as the song slowly changed into a slow-paced musical masterpiece. It was as if the song was meant to be played only for us.
Our foreheads met and, with our eyes closed, that slow passing moment felt like eternity; every inch of my veins felt that electrifying sensation, every inch of my skin felt that burning desire to take you away from here into the endless night.
Will you run away with me?
And, as if you've read my mind, you looked up at me with that look of anticipation. I looked deep into your eyes and found no shadow of doubt that you'd refuse if I asked. So, we exited the dance floor and ran out into the solace of a quiet evening, showered by the soft lighting of the moon.
You grabbed me by the hand and we ran to a nearby park where a merry-go-round stood still. I knew what you were thinking about at the exact moment - you've always loved rides from festival fairs.
I climbed over the steel fence and opened the rusty metal door for you. I held out my hand and you gladly took it as I linked our arms together and ushered you onto one of the plastic horses. I lifted you up carefully and made sure that you were settled fine atop the lifeless but smiling horse and I went over to the control machine to maneuver the buttons.
Upon a single press, the merry-go-round roared to life with an all too familiar and nostalgic tune blasting over the speakers and the lights blazing - as if beckoning an imaginary crowd. I could see the smile plastered on your lips, like a kid going to an amusement park for the first time.
The ride slowly started its circular motion and, upon starting, I grabbed onto one of the poles and hopped on. I slowly moved towards you and stood beside the horse you were riding on, trapping you in my embrace. It was like I was your mythical knight and you were my breathtakingly beautiful princess.
I wished the night would not end. I wished that the sun would allow the moon to linger in the sky. I wished that this was a loop that would forever play. But our moment was not the case.
As we got down from the merry-go-round, I stopped on my tracks upon reaching the park's lifeless fountain and held both of your hands.
I looked straight into your eyes, at a loss for words for the first time in my life. There was an extreme struggle to articulate what I felt that moment, how grateful I am and how much I find myself falling deeper in love with you.
But you managed to speak first and your voice resounded in my head as everything turned to black instantly.
"Acea."
