Marco Diaz hated love...
...But you probably already knew that.
That question.....it would be so easy to answer. Any normal middle school kid like himself would have an answer in their mind almost immediately, their only problem would be admitting it. Yet, that wasn't Marco. Marco had changed because of it. A simple middle school crush that most likely wouldn't matter later in life had absolutely transformed him. Now that Marco looked back at his former self he realized it wasn't just Her that had changed him. It was also all the picking, all the teasing, only for being safe!
Star on the other hand, simply didn't have a crush. She had seen Princes at parties her mother had put on for her birthday. She had to admit, some of them were cute, but cute wouldn't cut it. She had barely met anyone at her new school. She didn't know what to say. She thought for a moment before finally deciding that admitting she didn't have a crush would be the best thing to do.
Silence fell over the two. Both lost deep in thought about what to say as the question rung in their heads like a bell. Who do you have a crush on? Who do you have a crush on? Who do you have a crush on? The voice inside them seemed to be growing more and more impatient as the seconds turned to minutes. It seemed as if the minutes were beginning to turn to hours. The teens both knew that would be close to impossible, but after seeing a room expand in mere seconds and being tickled for the first time in years, Marco realized something .
Anything was possible now.
Yet, the thought didn't shock him. He looked at the girl next to him. She looked up at him then back at the box.
"I don't have a crush", she said.
That was an option! Marco thought. He could have said that ages ago! "I don't have a crush either", he responded. The box was silent at first. Could it have turned off while they were thinking? The box was silent...
...at first.
Before any of them had a chance to comprehend anything, the Box begin to float up and turn red. It spoke.
"Somebody lied BIG TIME!"
Star had played this game before. She remembered playing it with her old friend Pony Head when she was the rebellious type of girl. After the 1st question Pony Head had lied. Star had lied the second time they played. Both times they were tickled. Yet, neither of them lied another time. Star nor Pony Head had lied twice. This was a first. Nobody had experience. Nobody knew what to do. Nobody knew what would come next...
Wind began blowing through Star's hair. She looked towards Marco only to see his Black leather jacket fly off as well as his gloves. He was left with nothing but his read hoodie and white tee-shirt. He looked...nicer. Star focused back on the box. It was still floating higher in her room. Which...wasn't her room anymore. Star looked around and saw her room's walls were now blue with bright, white lights all around it. She looked down. It was the same.
"Did you lie?!", Star heard Marco yell. Star looked around her. Did I? She thought. She didn't know if she was really the one who lied. Marco was tough and reserved. She didn't think he had a crush on anyone. Star looked back at The Box. It was spinning causing the wind to speed up. She kept her dress down and walked to it.
"What if we don't know?!", Star yelled towards the box. The box slowed it's spin, but the wind kept going. "eXcUsE mE?!", The Box yelled back. It looked offended. It's voice was like sand paper. Star covered her ears to protect them. Every syllable caused pain. Star was having second thought about continuing. She uncovered her ears and looked around. Her former room was completely red. Marco was on the laying on the floor. She kept going.
