Chapter Three
I woke up in the infirmary with Devin applying a cold rag to my head. "How do you feel?" She asked me. My wavy black hair was tied into a bun so the bandage could be wrapped around my head. My ribs were wrapped. My knee had a very large bandaid on it, along with all of my other cuts.
"I've been worse," I told her.
"What happened back there?" She asked me. "You hit a girl in the ribs, you double over with rib pain. You hit her in the head, you grab the back of your head moaning. That's not normal."
"You're right, it's not. That's why I never told anyone." She stared at me. I wondered if she thought I was faking. "Let me demonstrate. Give me your hand." I took a small knife and put I to her left palm, holding out mine so she could see. As I slowly cut just a little bit at a time the exact same cut appeared on my hand. Davin gasped. I stopped, and Devin wrapped our hands. "Now you see why I don't fight."
"That's freaky," was all she could manage to say. The boy, Robert, came over and sat down beside Devin. "Oh, Allie. This is my friend Robert Tahoe, son of Athena." He had storm gray-blue eyes and short blonde hair.
"Hello," he said somewhat nervously.
"Hi."
Robert told me he watched the demonstration I gave Devin. "Why is it like that?" he asked.
"I was cursed by Artemis as a baby," I answered.
I was given some nectar that tasted like my dad's soup. "You should tell Chiron. He'll know what to do," Devin told me.
"No. Neither of you can tell anyone until I say otherwise. You promise?" Both of them reluctantly promised. "Good," I said.
