Chapter Five
Chiron led me into the Big House. "Miss Brown," he said, "would you like to explain to me what I just saw?"
I looked at him. "Not really." I sighed. "But I guess I will." I went on to explain my curse. I told him about last night's capture the flag game. Lastly, I told him about Gina trying to drown me. He just stared at me. "How do I rid myself of the curse?" I asked him.
"You would have to go to the curse giver herself. You'll have to track down Artemis." Chiron's expression grew solemn. "The only other way is far too dangerous." He looked pensive for a moment. "Does the curse work reversed?"
"What?"
"If you cause something pain, you feel pain. If you cause them to feel good, do you feel good?"
I laughed. "Gods, I've never really tried. I'm not sure how I could."
"Go to Seymour and pet his head. See if you feel that warmth you're giving him." I walked over to the leopard head and pet it.
"I feel completely normal."
"Hmmpf. If you wish I will send you and two others on a quest to find Artemis. I have word she is near Yellowstone with her Hunters right now. Would you like that?"
"Yes! I would love it!"
"There is only one twist. The two people whose fight caused the curse both have to give permission for the curse to be lifted."
"That shouldn't be too hard. My mom should be pretty willing. The hardest part will be Artemis."
"You'd be surprised. You may pick two friends and I will send you off tomorrow. You are dismissed."
I ran out of the Big House to find Devin and Robert in the training area. "Guys!" I shouted. "Will you come on a quest with me?" I explained everything to them. "So will you come?"
Both of them looked at each other and shrugged. "Why not?" they said.
"Great! We leave first thing tomorrow!"
