Yoongi writes down his final answer on his test and gathers the papers together. He sees Hazel beginning to stand over. He stops her and smiles Before mouthing 'ill take it for you'. She smiles and hands the test to him. He takes it up to the teacher and sits down. He takes a piece of folded paper out And slides it over to Hazel's side of the desk.
"What's this?"
"It's...A song I wrote when I thought about you last night." They whisper to each other. She smiles and opens it. Her face slightly drops.
"It's all in Korean..."
"I know. I'm composing the English version for you right now."
"How are you doing that in your head."
"I just need to look at you. You're giving me enough inspiration. It's a song about our friendship." That was a lie. A faint pink dusts on Hazels cheeks with a smile following afterwards. The two look up when they hear the teacher clear his throat.
"Is everyone done with their test?" Everyone nods. "Good. Min Yoongi."
"Yes, Mr. Ress?" Yoongi fiddles with the pencil in his hand. God, did he hate being called out.
"You're adopted, correct? By two men?"
"Yes, sir..."
"And they're gay, correct?"
"Yes..."
"Okay. Now, tell me. Why are you flirting with a girl?"
"W-What do you mean, sir?" He eventually flicks his pencil onto the floor out of anxiousness, sending his hands to the hem of hoodie.
"Well, if you were adopted by gay parents, that must mean your gay. That's how things work." Mr. Ress stands up and walks over to Yoongi and Hazels desk. The whole class goes quiet.
"Uh...I hate to tell you you're wrong..."
"No, I'm not. It's how gay works. It's like a virus. It spreads. You were probably born gay, weren't you?"
"Sir, I'm not gay. Just because my adoptive parents are, doesn't mean I am. I wasn't born gay either. Nobody is born gay..." Yoongis voice trails off.
"Don't correct me. I have a theory."
"...What might that be...?"
"Your biological parents abandoned you. Left you in that Orphanage Because you were gay." Yoongi feels something snap, only to realize he tore the bottom of his hoodie.
"My parents didn't abandon me..."
"Mr. Ress, stop, please...!" Hazel blurts out. Mr. Ress ignores her pleads.
"Then why were you in an orphanage?" He keeps adding.
"Because they died..."
"They probably died because they couldn't live with a gay son." Yoongi stands up, his face shows he's clearly holding back anger.
"They didn't kill themselves because of me being gay Because I'm not gay. How many times must I say this to get the point through your thick skull? You may Think you're right, but you're not. My parents didn't kill themselves, they loved me."
"Keep telling yourself that." In a matter of seconds, Yoongi kicks the shared desk into Mr. Ress's legs, causing the whole class to jump. Yoongi storms over to the door and slams it closed, sending the clock above the door to fall and shatter. Hazel stands up. "Get back in your seat! Nobody is leaving this classroom until I solve this problem."
"How are you going to solve a problem you started? He wasn't even flirting. He's my best friend. We talk to each other like that all the Time, you Idiot." Hazel sits back into her seat.
In the hallway, Yoongi paces back and forth before he breaks down into tears. He pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls Jin. "Hello?"
"M-Mom..." Yoongi mumbles.
"Yoongi? What's wrong? Are you crying? What happened?"
"Mr. Ress was saying how I'm gay And that's why my parents died and how you and dad adopted me because you're gay and you wanted a gay something like that..."
"Wait, so your teacher thinks your parents killed themselves because you're gay?"
"Yes."
"Is he homophobic?"
"Yes." Jin immediately hangs up, leaving Yoongi confused. Jin never just Hung up on him. Yoongi sits Against a wall and pops his headphones in, in attempt to calm down. He feels someone tap his head. He looks up to see Jin.
"Get up. We're going to have a talk with your teacher Mr. Reece's pieces or whatever his name is." Yoongi stands up and follows Jin into his classroom. "Hi! Mr. Reeces, right?" Jin smiles as Yoongi stares at the floor.
"Ress." Mr. Ress corrects.
"Whatever. So, I just wanted to talk to you for a little bit." Ress stands up from his chair.
"I don't want to talk." Jin shoves him back down.
"I didn't give you an option. So, you claim my son's parents killed themselves because he's gay. He's not gay, first of all. And second, his parents died in a car accident during a blizzard. They went to get Yoongi from a friends house and they spiraled out of control, falling off a goddamn bridge. If you think that's suicide, you're an idiot. They loved Yoongi, just like how my husband and I love him. Just because I'm gay, and his adopted father is gay, doesn't mean he's gay. He very much likes girls. He keeps talking about this one girl he sees in the hallway and how cool and cute she is. Doesn't seem gay to me. And Mr, I don't know if you're aware of this, but about half of the kids in this school is apart of the LGBT community. If you don't like that, either you suck it up or leave this field, Because there's nothing you can do to change it. I didn't come to America to be judged, same goes for my husband, Yoongi and his four brothers. Do you understand?" The whole class stares at Jin in shock.
"Yes sir."
"Now, zip it or leave. And if you leave, you will never be considered a man, Because you'll be running away from your problems. If you do stay, Just keep in mind, my husband is a lawyer. I can drive you so far into the ground. Have a good day Mr. Reeces." Jin turns to Yoongi and pats his shoulder. "There you go, Hun. Tell me if he does this again." Without another word, Jin walks out of the class.
