Letters to Romeo, Juliet, And Shakespeare
Part I: Letters to Shakespeare
Dear Mr. Shakespeare
I do not like you
I do not like you at all
-
You ruined my life
With your stupid little
"Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet"
-
Tell me, sir,
Why me?
-
Why did you pick me
Out of all people
To be in this stupid thing?
-
You're a play writer known
For your stories of tragedy
And you just thought it'd be
Oh so funny
To make it real?!
-
If you truly were known
For your tragic stories
My version of Romeo and Juliet
Should be right up there
On the number one spot
-
Sure, I didn't kill myself
But what happened to me was much worse
And killed me inside
-
Most of your story came true
-
Romeo and Juliet
They met by chance
Without even knowing each others' names
-
They kept their love a secret
For fear of getting caught
Because they weren't
Supposed to be together
-
Juliet's father
Found out
And forbade her to be with him
-
Being the girl she is
She continued to date him
Behind her father's back
-
They didn't elope
They had school
This is, afterall,
The modern version
Of Romeo and Juliet
-
Romeo left of course
But that's not where the story ends, remember?
-
Romeo came back
He wasn't thrown out of town
