Chapter 13

The next morning I thought of asking Chad about Mrs Roosevelt. But I should do it without being suspected, I thought. He was having breakfast at that time. It was strange that he got up early or may be I was late. Anyways, I thought of starting with a casual conversation about his office and peers.

"Good morning Chad"

"Good morning Amanda. Come sit. I made breakfast"

"Wow really ? You are amazing!"

I went and sat opposite to him and started to eat.

"Ummm.. This is soo good. You have magic in your hands", I said satisfactorily. I thought this was the time.

So. How are your peers? Jason...Mike...Cindey...and..Mrs Roosevelt?.. I knew I was bad at this. Mrs Roosevelt definitely stood out.

"Mrs Roosevelt?" He gave a strange look. "Anyways..Yaah everyone is good. Senior management is definitely impressed with our team.". He said positively.

"Ok..kay..That's good. Well Mrs Roosevelt is attractive right?"

"No she isn't ", he replied straight-forwarded.

"Why do you care Amanda? What has gotten into you ?"

My phone beeped. I was careful to save only abbreviations of the sender. It was Mr. Roosevelt and I saved his Initials only. So on phone it appeared- S.R. messaged. I ignored. Obviously.

Later when Chad was out of sight I opened the message. It showed- Meet me up in the central park tomorrow after your boyfriend leaves for Office. I got some new information.

So the next day I sat ready on the chair. When Chad asked me why I wasn't leaving I made an excuse of some pending work. So he left and I waited for some time and then started for the park.

The good looking man was waiting for me on a bench. I went and greeted him and we got into talking. He told me about how Claire(Mrs. Roosevelt) wasn't there in his house yesterday and when asked she said she is in her cousin's house. He also asked me I made any improvements which sadly i didn't. So I said I will try to extract some information from Chad later. He shouldn't get doubtful. We talked about the weather and the city and he told me about a Pent house he own in the upper East side. It was fun but I had to leave for the office so said addio. 

It was pretty much the same that week. I was unable to get any useful information about Claire. So just before our another meeting I decided to ask Chad once more. I asked him if he knew with whom Mrs. Roosevelt hang out generally during and after office hours. He said there is a guy with brown hair but Mrs. Roosevelt wasn't a social person so nobody in his team knew. I went to bed empty handed but Chad looked a little surprised.

I revealed the facts in my next meeting but Others were there with shocking revelations. I felt so little so I decided to keep my little knowledge to myself. Apparently, Mrs. Roosevelt wasn't having an affair. She was going to gift a new penthouse to Steve as a surprise and things got a little complicated as she was such a bad liar. Anyways, the point was that Steve was now happy and he also decided on this surprise face he would make on his birthday. We had fun and had drinks and danced. I and Chalsey danced more. we were the youngsters. It got late this weekend too. After the party was over Steve was kind(or happy) enough to drop me and Chalsey home. Chalsey got down first and then My turn came. It was a peaceful night that day. Lights were up. Chad didn't sleep that day also. Too much work he must have got.

When I went back he had a document in his hand. I didn't want to disturb him. So I went quietly inside the bedroom and slept. 

Our society kept on meeting on weekends but nothing serious came. People were just having the time of their lives. I was back to my routine and everything was good but when I thought everything in my life is going to be amazing something changed. Chad changed. He was different to me. He wasn't listening to me much and It was slowly driving me crazy. And then things were going beyond my reach when he wouldn't surprise me or look happy like he used to look. Something was abnormal but I couldn't figure out why. And I never asked because I thought may be he is just like that. I thought may be I should start compromising but I was never a type of girl who would compromise. Anyways, so things got a little uneasy and now look at me. In the span of 5 hours on my bed I have recapped the entire history episode.         

It is night time. Everything is going to be fine. I should end this relationship. My phone has got 3 missed calls. Chad might have come up with excuses but I am not ready to face it. After breaking his heart once how can i do it again ? I am seeing a message on my phone. From Chad.

[I will come to your house tomorrow to explain Amanda. Please Listen to me. I was so stupid to put this act. I will explain tomorrow. Love you]

No no noo... I don't want to face him. Why ? Well...I don't know....I am having a headache. Tomorrow...I don't know...Chad..I don't know...Nothing to explain i guess..my deep down emotions don't like him though I am attracted to his exterior. He pulls me..I like him...no...I don't know.....

And I am already asleep.
