Chapter 3: dogs make everything better

Natsu had left the hospital and drove home thinking of what to say. He had no clue what to do and how to make this a better situation. He looked up how to break bad news to somebody and one of the top ones was a cat or a dog. He decided to break the news with a dog to lucy . He drove around looking for an hour and a half to go to the nearest pet store. It opened at 7 am and it was only 6:30 when he got there, so waiting was the only option. He thought about what to say when he gave her the Puppy. There is no possible way to break this type of news to somebody. Natsu thought he would just tell her right away like ripping off a bandae. That would be the only way he could possibly get the words out to her. Natsu jumped out of his car when he seen the lady open the doors. He walked in, the bell ringing caught the lady's attention. The lady with the name tag saying kate spoke to the pink haired boy.
"May I help you?" She spoke
"Yes, I'm looking for a dog for my friend who is.... Umm Let's say having a rough day" Natsu replied
"Oh, I'm sorry but there right here in the back" she said while walking towards the back.
She lead Natsu to the back. She said we've have some puppues but we just sold a lot of them over the past couple of days. Natsu nodded and surveyed over the dogs that were left. He seen a couple of dogs that were okay but couldn't find one that he thought would work.
"Is this all of them or is there any in the back?" Natsu asked
"No, this is a.... Wait, actually there is one dog in the back. I'll get him" she walked quickly off.
She returned with a strange dog.
"This young guy is available for purchase because we were going to send him to get put to sleep" she continued "his mother had died after a couple of months of raising him, he hasn't opened up to anyone since" she spoke
Natsu knew the pain the dog was feeling.
Natsu asked "may I hold him".
She shook her head up and down and put the dog into Natsu arms.
He cradled it like a baby and whispered " I know your pain little blue buddy, my mom is gone too, and the closest thing to a second one is gone now. We Could all get through this together, me, you and lucy "
The weird blue dog yawned then rubbed his head on Natsu chest and then snuggled himself into a ball.
"I'll take him" Natsu said proudly and firm.
He jumped back in his car and made the journey back home.
He spoke to the cat the whole ride "I think I have a great name for you, ready to hear it, HAPPY, great right, I know I'm a genius"
The dog barked softly after the name was mentioned.
It was the first time Natsu smiled since that last night and he knew everything was going to be fine. He finally made his way to his house. He slowly walked to his house and unlocked the front door. He came into the home, no sound was heard. He walked upstairs whit Happy to see lucy still asleep. He tiptoed into the room. lucy started to speak in her sleep at this moment
"Natsu.... I lo..." She mumbled off
Natsu didn't catch the words spoken. He just took his shirt off and laid in the bed next to lucy . Happy was on his chest asleep and Natsu was thinking to himself. A tear came down his eye but at that exact moment lucy had rolled over and put her across Natsu's stomach. He looked over and moved closer putting his arm under head and letting her rest on his shoulder. She was still in deep sleep and Natsu cracked a smile and kissed her forehead and whispered " I love you lucy , even if the feeling isn't returned, always and forever" as he drifted to sleep.
