Chapter 4: breaking news

Natsu woke up to a smell of bacon roaming throughout the house and he went exploring for the source. He found lucy wearing his t-shirt and his sweat pants from the school football team.
Half asleep he started the conversation.
"Good morning lucy " he announced
"More like good afternoon, but do you want some this bacon, I thought you might be hungry"
She replied.
Happy meowed from a countertop and Natsu smiled
" I see you found your gift" he said while he started to chuckle a little.
She was shocked and said "OMG, thank you Natsu, but why".
" for the rough time your having and Happy can make you feel better when you're down" Natsu said happily but the happiness faded at what he was having to tell her soon. She looked over whelmed with enjoyment and had the biggest smile on her face. She took the bacon out of the pan and put the perfectly crisp pieces on a plate with a napkin on it. She continued to look through the fridge and couldn't find lettuce and tomatoes.
"I'll be right back Natsu, I'm going to run to my house for lettuce and tomatoes for these BLTs" she said while heading to the door.
Natsu had spoke up " isn't your dad there?"
"No, he left an hour ago, don't worry I'll be right back" she stated
Natsu just smiled and said "hurry back okay?". She agreed and went on her way. Natsu went to his room to change but was interrupted when he saw a voicemail left on his phone from lucy 's dad and he remembered the message on the answering machine at the Heartfillia's home. He bolted down the stairs and out the front door just in his sweatpants. He got to lucy 's house to try and stop her from hitting play but when he opened the door he seen her standing there with the goodies she went to get on the floor. He realized the message was playing and he slammed his fist on the machine while lucy just stood there frozen in shock and sadness. He stood there for a second while a tear came down his eye and he looked at lucy .
"lucy ?" He said softly.
"She's gone isn't she" lucy said shaking.
Natsu nodded his head and reached out for lucy 's hand. She gripped his hand while multiple tears came rushing down her face. Natsu moved in closer and hugged her tightly, putting her head on his shoulder.
"We're going to get through this, I promise lucy , I'm going to do anything and everything I have to do to get through this with you" he said while tears flowed.
lucy continued to let tears out on Natsu's shoulder. She had realized she lost her father and mother all in one night and she had no one left. She just wanted to shut down. Not move at all. Natsu picked her and carried her back to his house. He placed her on his bed and laid down right next to her. Wrapping his arms around her whispering "I'm here lucy , your not alone". lucy looked up into Natsu's eyes and her heart lifted as she seen the pain in his eyes too. She wasn't alone, she had one person left and he was there everyday for the past 10 years. Always protecting him from all the popular girls that called her ugly. He was the popular boy and he always stuck by a loser, caring and never forgetting her. She was in love with him for the past 10 years and just realized at this moment
