The train ride felt oddly lonely to the young witch. Normally in a compartment with her two best friends, was now just her and a few classmates. Hermione Granger, the brilliantly minded witch, paid no mind to her friends she simply had her nose in a book. She was glad to see their familiar faces, especially after the downfall of Voldemort, but she was missing the two boys that normally rode the train with her. She missed the two brilliant pranksters, that was now just one grieving half. She missed Collin, the obsessed boy, who was really brilliant with a camera. Most of all, she missed the adventure. After Voldemort's demise, the only interesting thing that happened to the frizzy-haired teen was going back to Hogwarts.

The train ride seemed to go slower than she remembered. But, Hermione guessed it was because she wasn't talking. When the castle came into view, she felt slightly happier. She saw her home, well the place she now though as home. The familiarity of Hogwarts reminded her of all the many adventures she had as a young girl.

It was now a new year.

In a matter of moments she was sitting near Ginny Weasley and Neville Longbottom in the Great Hall. There was a large amount of happy chatter throughout the large room. As expected, McGonagall sat in the headmaster's, or headmistress', chair.

She rose and made her way to the podium.

"Hello old and new students! Before we start the sorting ceremony, we have a new astronomy teacher, Professor Smith . He will be replacing Professor Sinistra for the time being, for reasons she wishes not to be spoken. Now, if I call your name, please come up to the stool to be sorted" McGonagall spoke, and it was great to see her there instead of any other professor.

Hermione didn't pay attention to who came in what house. Instead, she was sizing up the new teacher. He looked different up there. His spikey hair, and muggle suit made him stand out from the rest. Sure he was fairly good looking, he looked very young, but his eyes told a different story.

'I didn't see him fight in the war' Hermione thought.

'What an odd supply teacher'

{Hullo!!! Sorry it's short. I just didn't have a lot of time to do a large extravagant chapter, but next one I do, will be long. I promise!
