Kuu sat down on a bench in the middle of a patch of roses, hydrangeas and lilies. She had her hands folded and on her lap, a slight breeze would blow by and cause her hair to be swept up, and when it went away, her hair fell gently back down on to where it was before. It was completely quiet outside.
She stood up after about fifteen minutes when she heard a car door smack shut, she was excited, yet her face had a hard time at showing it from her crying earlier. She scurried over to a bunch of bushes and peered out from the top of them.
Kuu could see an elderly couple that she immediately deemed her grandparents, she had never met them surprisingly. Jugo had meet them at the gate and showed them inside and Kuu looked away, wondering what other family member might show up.
After ten more minutes there was another car door slam, but this time there was four of them in a row. Kuu got back in her observing position and a large smile grew as she saw a woman who looked similar to her mother, with a man, and two children who looked only three and five years old. Jugo did the same with them.
Before Kuu could hide again she saw two people walking to the gates, a girl, who had a boyish hair cut but still made it look cute, and a man, she could over hear their conversation and the man saying, "I wasn't going to go to a family reunion dressed as I normally am; I don't want them to know that side of me just yet!"
Kuu blinks, she was confused but she'll probably learn about it later. Suddenly, Kuu loses her footing on the branches and falls on her backside with a rather loud, "Oomph," with the following, "Oww.." Not even a moment after that the girl and man Kuu had seen before rushed into the little garden she was hiding in.
"Are you okay?" The girl asked.
"Yeah..." She sighs, then the girl offers her a hand, which Kuu politely took, "This is a horrible first impression of me," she mumbles, "But, I'm Fujioka Kuu, it's very nice to meet you, I'm guessing we're cousins?" She smiles at the two
"Probably," The girl says with a smile as well, "I'm Fujioka Haruhi, and this is my dad, Fujioka Ryoji, he prefers Ranka though. Also.. Kuu, I'm pretty sure you're in Class 1A with me. You kinda ran out before I could introduce myself, but when I did everyone freaked out because you had a company I didn't, they thought we knew each other too," Haruhi informs.
"Wow," Kuu says, "Well I'm glad I have a friend in that class. We're friends right?" Kuu asked.
Haruhi smiles, "Of course,"
Ranka smiles, "Well aren't you two just hitting it off!" he cheers, placing a hand on Haruhi's shoulder. Kuu smiles at his happy behavior, while Haruhi slightly shakes her head, but smiles back eventually.
"Kuu! Kuu-san! Where are you?!" The voice of Hina erupted from near the front door of the Fujioka manor. Kuu jumps, "Oh, we should go!" Kuu hurries out of the garden with Haruhi and Ranka following, "There you are! Your mother's here!" Hina says with a smile on her face.
Kuu's smile brightens, and she lets out a squeal, then completely leaves Haruhi and Ranka as sh bolted into the manor. Her mother, Yumi stood in the parlor and when she sees Kuu she grins, "Baby," she cooes like many mothers do. Kuu hurries over to her and engulfs her mother into a tight hug.
Yumi wraps her arms around the shoulders of her daughter, "I missed you, Kuu,"
"I missed you too, mom," Kuu mumbles. They stay like that for another second or two until Kuu finally pulls away, "How was America?"
"Same as always," Yumi answers, "Say... would you like to come to America for winter break with me?"
Kuu's eyes widened happily, her mother had never invited her on one of her many trips before, so Kuu nodded furiosuly, "Yes! I would love that!" Yumi smiles, then brings her hand up and brushes a strand of Kuu's hair behind her ear, "I'm sure you will."
"Yumi-sama, Kuu-san, dinner is prepared," A different maid says, one named Takiichi Karin.
Kuu nods and quickly follows Karin into the dining room, Haruhi and Ranka do the same. Yumi stays behind for a moment, sighs, and then follows as well.
Kuu ended up sitting in between her mother and father. Her grandparents sat at the head of the table, the woman who looks like her mother and their family sat on the other side, then Haruhi and Ranka sat at the end of the table.
Dinner was perfectly fine, Kuu was introduced to her family members, she got along with all of them fine and everyone seemed to be in a generally good mood. Until, the maids came around to gather everyone's dishes, and no one had anything to talk about.
Hiashi started to talk to his brother, which Kuu found out was Ranka. In a way, they did look a like. Hiashi had the same dark red hair, except it was trimmed, the both had the same features in a way, yet Hiashi was much more masculine.
"So, Haruhi is attending Ouran as well?" Hiashi asks.
"Yes, she got a free scholarship as long as she stays on top of her class," Ranka says, proudly.
Hiashi looks at Kuu from the side of his eye, Kuu felt smaller when he did that, she knew he was disappointed because Kuu would never be able to be top of her class. Of course she was intelligent, extremely intelligent, but she could never ingage, and no amount of revising on one's self could ever really change that.
"That's impressive," Hiashi replies, looking back at Ranka, "Has Haruhi made any friends yet?"
"Actually, she joined a club. She's made a few friends already."
When the two men talked with each other it sounded like a battle to see who could come out as the better father.
"How about you, Kuu?" Hiashi says, looking at his daughter, giving her that kind of look that says; if you say the wrong thing I will disown you.
Kuu swallows a lump in her throat and nods her head, "I've made a few friends.. I'll do better tomorrow when I'm at school for a full day," she smiles a little.
"You've never been very social, though," Her father sighs. Kuu looks up at him, and Yumi gives him a slight glare that no one else but him was able to pick up on.
"You didn't have to say that," Yumi retorts, looking at Kuu who seemed slightly lost in the sight of the tablecloth.
"And she could be a bit more social,"
"Honestly, Hiashi. You're acting like a child!" Yumi yells. Hiashi glares, "I wouldn't have to act like a child if ours was good enough,"
Kuu immediately stands up, then looks towards her family members, with a confident smile she says, "It was wonderful to meet all of you, but as you can see my father is in no way fit to be holding a get together such as this one, so I will not be participating in it as such. Goodnight, everyone."
Kuu turns around and immediately leaves the dining room to an awkward silence, and the glaring of Yumi and Hiashi continued. Hiashi then turns to watch Kuu walk away, with a slight anger for calling him an unfit host, but he said nothing more. However, he did watch as Haruhi stood up and walked after her.
