You were sitting in your office, Phoenix looking at all your books, a girl of fifteen looking at your pictures that you had on your walls~ pictures of your childhood. You were always friends with the porcupine attorney, Larry Buttz, and your rival (in intelligence), Miles Edgeworth.
Even now, after Phoenix tore Edgeworth's eyes open, you were still rivals with Edgeworth, though, on a lower scale than what him and Phoenix are at. The girl, Maya, had always thought that it was cute how the boys were always fighting over everything.
"You finding your novels alright, Phoenix?" You asked, noting that Maya was looking at a specific picture of you between Phoenix and Edgeworth, a grin on her lips.
"Yeah, you have quite the collection, I'm sure you beat even Edgeworth!" Phoenix chucked, your face lightly heating up at the name that slipped your friend's mouth.
"He can be the judge of that." Maya stated, putting the picture down, turning to you. "So, you've been friends with Nick and Mr. Edgeworth for a while, huh?"
"Yeah, that's right. Neither of them have changed much, I'm afraid." You smiled, glancing at a picture on your desk.
It was a picture of you, Phoenix, Miles, and Larry at your place, playing out in the gardens, the three boys giving you different flowers. You remember scolding them for it, but hugging them for it. A smile graced across your features, the memory pleasant, a knocking at the door pulling you out of it.
"Come in." You stated, the door opening to reveal Miles.
He had his standard red suit on, his hair slightly more styled than usual. His arms were behind his back, the sound of a soft rustling (plastic?) Entering your ears. His facial features reflected, nervousness? You weren't sure.
"Oh, Wright's here too." He muttered, you cocking your head to the side as he walked up to you, Phoenix raising an eyebrow to his friend.
"What's up, Miles?" You asked, unsure about the way that he was acting, your E/C orbs meeting with his grey ones. "You don't look okay."
"Do you remember back when we were kids, and, you told us what you're favorite flower was?" Edgeworth asked back, your eyes blinking in confusion.
Of course you remembered, what kind of question was that? You remembered everything from your childhood, just like Phoenix. It was connected to the photo on your desk, even.
"What about it? Don't tell me you picked some. I thought I yelled at you for it before, Miles." You stated in an exasperated sigh.
"Erm, well. I didn't pick them." He muttered, moving his arms to the front to show a bouquet of *favorite flower*, your eyes lighting up. "A florist was selling them, and I wanted to give them to you. I know you do some flower pressing as well, and thought it'd be a nice project for you."
"Oh, that's so sweet of you, Miles!" You exclaimed, taking the bouquet of flowers, pulling out a vase to put them in. "I'll have to get that pressing done later, then. I've yet to put any of these to my collection."
"I smell competition." Maya smirked, looking at a very agitated Phoenix.
"Is that all, then, Miles?" You asked, looking back to the prosecutor with an innocent smile.
"Actually, I wanted to ask if you wanted to go get some coffee and discuss some intelligent conversation." Miles replied, giving a sideways glance at Phoenix, stressing the intelligent part. "Perhaps tomorrow?"
"Oh, that sounds wonderful! Maybe I can hear some of your overseas trip stories, finally." You stated, Phoenix stepping beside Miles. "Something wrong, Phoenix?"
"I kinda wanna hear some stories from your trips, too, seeing as how you made us think you were dead while you were away." Phoenix forced a kind smile, but sparks between him and Miles were obviously flying.
"I don't mind, I guess, Wright." Miles sighed, looking back to you. "I'll see you two at *insert your favorite coffee store/cafe* at two pm, sharp. Don't be late, Wright."
Miles then stepped out of the office to leave you, Phoenix, and Maya alone once again. You gave an exhausted sigh, both Phoenix and Maya looking at you with worry.
"He can at least call you by your first name like he used to." You mumbled, looking back at your photo of the flowers. "You're friends again, are you not?"
"That's as complicated as most of my cases." Phoenix stated, looking back to the books. "You're going to have to choose one of us, which is probably why he refuses to call me a friend. We're rivals in everything."
"You're talking about the promise we made as kids, right?" You asked, closing your eyes.
"Hey, Y/N! Who do you like better? Phoenix or Miles?" Larry asked, pointing to the two red faced boys, grinning.
"Neither. They're both my friends." You hummed in response, declining any chances they thought they'd had with you. "Of course, that can change."
"Then, promise us that when we're adults, you'll answer the question again. Only this time," Phoenix started, but got cut off by Miles.
"You'll choose who you want to marry!" Miles finished, causing Larry to laugh at how serious his friends were being.
You knew that the two of them had huge crushes on you, and you hoped that either they forgot about that, or that they'd move on. When you first met Maya, you had hopes that Phoenix had moved on- nope. So now, you had to pick which one you wanted to date. You weren't gunning for the married thing, you were stupid enough to think that marriage was what it was cut out to be when you were a child.
"Well, I've got my books. I'll read what I can before you want me to return them." Phoenix stated, pulling you out of your thoughts. "I'll see you tomorrow then, Y/N."
"Alright, see you, Phoenix, Maya." You smiled as you watched them leave, Maya waving at you as they left, leaving you alone to think.
"Who to choose?" You asked yourself, deep in thought...

Ugh, so long to get back into the swing of things! No, this isn't a sign of I'm back, I just wanted to finish this first part while I had a moment of motivation. I hope I did well enough for your enjoyment!
Until next time, lovelies! Bye~
