A mother hums a lovely tune
Her child clings to her arm
As long as she is hugging him
He can't come to any harm

The melody trills like a bird
The harmony is low
As long as they hug each other
They will know where to go

It takes a sudden turn, you see
And up springs a deep blue
They had been walking through the colors
The most lovely thing they knew

The blue reaches out to the woman
But she refuses its hand
The color only wants her child
That she can understand

The color leaks and splutters
But give she will not
There is something missing
Something she forgot

Someone she had once known is blue
Someone she ran from
It's her divorced husband of course
The murderer that is after their son

She turns away, but the color follows
Persistent the blue is
For the blue is confused and angered
It thinks the child is his

The woman screams and runs away
But is quickly being chased
But the end doesn't come to her
It wasn't all a waste

As she runs her legs melt
Her body seems to waver
As she is now but a color
Orange, what a tasteful flavor

The child who was in her arms
Isn't there at all
Instead there is a drop of yellow
Like the leaves you see in fall

The orange turns to the blue
As they fade into place
And they still stare at each other
Frozen, fixed in space
