Lets take a look at Disney's version of Belle's:
In Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast the Beast kidnaps Belle hence the name "Beauty and the Beast". She lives in a luxurious castle while talking to the utensils. Belle then discovers his inner beauty and kisses him releasing him from the spell.
In the original tale Belle convinces the Beast to let her stay with her sister's for a week. Yes Belle had sisters. I know very surprising. When her sisters see the luxurious life and jewelry they try to convince her to stay longer. They are hoping that it will drive the beast mad so he can devour her.
Not very pretty is it.
