Krista's p.o.v.
'What happened? Everything is so dark...where am I?'
"Kai..."
'Someone's calling me...who?'
"Come on Kai wake up."
I struggled but I managed to get my eyes open to see a face that I knew. My mother. She smiled down at me while I could see dad hanging off to the side watching with a smirk on his face. I see pink dance in my vision and looked up to see that I was leaning against the giant cherry blossom tree that was in front of the house.
"Kai," I looked at my mother who held her hand out to me," come on we're going to be late if you keep day dreaming, after all it's your special day."
Then I remembered, today was my birthday and was gonna celebrate my year of turning 8 with mama and papa. I took her hand which I also took my papa's hand when he was close enough for me to reach. We then walked off but as we exited the shrine grounds I heard a whisper so I turned my head but nothing was there.

"Where are you going? Stay."

"Is something wrong, Kai?" I heard papa ask.
"Nope!" I smiled brightly at him.
As the day went on, it seemed to go on forever. We ate out for lunch and had a picture taken of us by some photographer at the park. He seemed familiar since he flirted with mom but when he looked at me he gave me a soft smile and handed me a yellow flower. He was really funny I couldn't help but laugh as he waved goodbye.
He wasn't the only one who I thought was familiar as the day went on. I meet a pretty lady with different colored eyes and blue hair, a girl with long white hair walking with a guy with red hair that had a loud laugh, and I saw a boy with red hair with an eyepatch next to a girl with soft blue hair who was on the swings.
With the feeling of familiarity, I wanted to talk to them, but my parents interrupted each time and I walked off with them. The curiosity of knowing them was gone after I turned away each time. It was still the afternoon when my parents went into a shop and told me to wait for them outside.
It was then I heard a sound coming from the alley way. I didn't want to move but my body didn't listen and went over and pecked in. I saw a blonde with tattoos on his body with black bags under his eyes. He was really beat up, I guess he felt like someone was looking at him since he looked up from the ground  and saw me. He growled at me but I wasn't scared, it was weird.
"Aren't ya scared kid?"
"Why would I be?" I tilt my head in confusion.
"Tch! How annoying." He glare at me before looking away. I slowly walked in front of him and held out my hand.
"What!?"
"I'm Krista but you can call me Kai, Mr. Tanuki!"
"Tanuki!? Do I look like a damn raccoon to you?!" I nodded my head and giggled a bit. I then caught sight of a huge gash on his arm. I quickly took out my handkerchief and wrapped it around the gash.
"Oi! What are you-?!"
"Stop moving!" He immediately did what I said," if you don't wrap it up and treat it properly then it will get infected later on." He kept quiet and I looked up to see that he had a strange smile on his face. The sense of familiarity came back twice as hard, as he patted my head. I felt calm as the palm rested on my head. I pulled back as quick as I could when I realized what I was doing and made my way to the entrance of the alley way.
"It's Shukaku. That's my name."
"Well I hope to meet you again, Shukaku." I smiled back at him as I ran back to greet mama and papa who were outside of the shop now. They grabbed my hands and we walked away from the place but I heard another voice. It was different from the first. It was angry.

"Damn it! Wake up already you idiot! If you don't, you'll die!"

"So did ya have fun today, Kai?" Mama asked me as the sun was still high in the sky.
"Yep I sure did!"
"Well is there anywhere else you want to go before we head home?" Papa asked as we walked.
"Hmm~?...The Park! I want to go to the park again!" I said excitedly
"It's your day after all so let's go." Man announced.
"Yay!"
When we made it to the park I immediately saw an ice cream stand. I tugged on papa's sleeve and pointed to it.
"Papa can I have some ice cream?"
"And what flavor do you want sweet heart?" Mama asked
"I want mint and chocolate, please!"
They both laughed before telling me to go play but there was only an old man sitting on the bench near the play ground. I sat next to him and kicked my feet back and forth as I waited for mama and papa to come back.
"You are an excited one, aren't ya?" The old man said suddenly.
"Today is my birthday after all!"
"Oh~ really? Then how about I tell you a story?"
"Story?" I was curious since my parents never really told me stories. The old man nods.
"But before that why don't you tell me who you are, little one."
"I'm Krista but ya can call me Kai, Jiji!"
The man laughed out loud at my antics. Another rush of familiarity came down on me, his laugh, the way he spoke and how he treated me they all seemed so familiar. Why?
"Alright let's see, A long time ago..."
I listened to the man as he started the story. About a great sage who had created 9 beasts bearing the number of tails of 1-9. Each one of the beast trusted the humans until one of them had went berserk which caused the humans to seal up all the tailed beast. The most rebellious to get sealed was the 9tailed fox, he was sealed away by a priest into a scroll that no one has found. And the old man story soon ended.
"So how was it?"
"It was really amazing, Jiji. Although what was the foxes name anyway?"
"Hmm let's see I think his name was Kurama."
"Kurama? That's a nice name." The familiarity feeling rushed at me again but it was much more intense than the other times. My head started to hurt a little.
"Tell if would you have made friends with the hard headed fox?"
"No... because I want to be friends with all of them, Jiji!" I smile at him and I didn't see him flinch, but I felt him put his hand on my hair and ruffled it a bit before the feeling was gone. I looked up but the old man was no where to be seen. Then something grabbed my arm, I turned and saw it was papa. Neither him or mama had ice cream with them, they said that they didn't have the flavors I wanted.
"Come in Kai let's get going. It's almost dark." Papa said.
We walked off together again hand in hand. Before we stepped foot out of the park, a man bumped into us making me fall to the ground. He glanced at me with his purple eyes as he walked off I could see his bright orange hair as he went into the forest terrain of the park.
"How rude, he could at least apologize."
Father held his hand out and I was about to take it until he uttered something that made me freeze.
"Come on Kai it's time to go home."
Home. Where was it? This didn't feel right at all. I stood up and took a few steps back from the two. They didn't notice. Then I saw their eyes, they were dull.  I finally noticed, and when I felt the skin it was cold.
"Yeah, I want to go home," I said before looking straight at them," but not with you."  With that I took off running into the forest where I saw the man go in. I could hear mama and papa calling for me.

'I'm sorry! Mama, Papa! But I want to go home! To where everyone is! I miss you so much but I can't stay! I have to go back! Back to Kurama and the other!'

I ran through the forest trying to find the man with the bright orange hair. I ran until I found my way to a lake. It was misty but I heard faint footsteps behind me. I turned to see the man.
"You ready to go home, ya idiot?"
I was still 8 years but I couldn't help but feel like I was finally happy.

"I was so lonely! I was really scared. I always told myself that if I smiled everything would be alright! But it never was! Not until I meet you, Jiji, Shukaku, and the other! I want to go back! I want to go back home, Kurama!"
When was the last time I spilled out my feelings like this? When I have cried this hard before? I don't think I have. Not in a long time. I couldn't stop crying.
"Hey," I felt something knock lightly against my head," stop crying would ya, it's annoying."
Kurama had lightly knocked his knuckles against by head to get my attention. He was bent down to my level seeing that I was still a little kid. I giggled a bit but as I was about to take his hand, I started to fall. His face took on a panic look as he saw this, he reached out to grab me but I was now suddenly surrounded by water.
I couldn't breathe. I heard a splash and saw a figure come into the water. They reached out for me but I couldn't even move, I was too tired. I blacked out as I had ran out of air, but I could feel the warmth of the person palm as they caught on to my wrist. The next thing I know I'm hacking up water, I was breathing again but hard.
I open my eyes to see panic purple eyes look down at me. His hair was wet along with the rest of his body. His face was too close but I couldn't help but feel relieve to see him.
"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost." My voice was horsed but I was shocked when he brought me up to his chest and held me tight.
"Kurama?"
"You...you," I guess he couldn't find the right word to say but he pulled back and glared at me," Ya idiot who the hell lets themselves get dragged to the middle of the god damn forest!"
"Huh!? Well excuse me! If you weren't the one that pissed me off, this wouldn't have happened in the first place!"
As you can tell we went on for a bit, before I felt something drop in my head and rub against it.
"At least let Hime dry off before you have a lover quarrel, ya idiot fox."
"Shukaku?" I questioned as he looked down at me with a grin on his face.
"Nice to see ya too, Hime."
He was interrupted by a certain fox that was just yelling at me. They pushed their head together and started to fight each other again.
"Some things never change do they?"
"If they did, it wouldn't be as exciting don't ya think, Mata?"
I saw Kokuo and Mrs. Mata standing next to each other talking as they watched the two idiots fight.
"Ms. Mata! Kokuo!" I yelled surprised yet my voice still was horsed. They looked over and saw me and walked over to where I sat.
"Not even a week away and you're already getting into trouble?" Kokuo  stated with a slight grin on her face.
"It's good to see you again, Kai. Haven't seen you since the play."
"Wait if Kokuo is here then Ms. Mata are you-"
"Didn't I tell you? I guess it must've slipped my mind. I'm Matabi, the two tails, surprised?" I nodded my head absently and sweat drop.

'But now that I think about it. It makes sense.'

I suddenly got picked up and put on someone shoulder. I saw it was Goku that did it. He was laughing loudly as he did that. He put me down and hugged me but not as tight as Kurama. I saw Jiji come over and brushed some wet hairs out of my face. He rubbed the towel softly like when I used to take baths when ever I slept over.
"Ya sure know how to give people a good scare don't ya? "
"I'll say but we got lucky, Isobu on the other hand not so much since he's the one getting chewed out." Goku pointed over his shoulder where I see Isobu and Serena.
Serena was yelling at him while he looked agitated. It looked like she was a mom giving a lecture to her kid or a girlfriend lecturing her boyfriend.
"Then Isobu is-"
"The 3 tails? Sure is."
"I'm getting annoyed that everyone is cutting me off." I stated as Goku jus laughed it off. I could see Saiken try to flirt with Serena but ended with a fist to the face by Isobu.
"Man, they sure are loud aren't they?" Kurama voice sounded from behind me.
"Yep but then again who says it's bad?"
I look up at him and he looked down at me.
"What?" He asked irritated.
"You see for some reason when I woke up my lips felt really hot and tasted like chocolate, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have anything like that before? Do you know?"
Kurama's face was red as the dawning sun. He turned and marched away as laughter filled the area from everyone that heard what I asked.
"Where are you going?! Kurama!" I yelled and ran after him.
"Shut up ya idiot! I should've let you drown!"
"How mean!?" I whined.
Just as the sun set, so did my adventure for the day. I can't say that I didn't like seeing my parents again, but I can truly say that I'm not gonna blame myself anymore. After all since I lost one family, it seems like I gained another. This one full of fun, and excitement.
