Chapter Two
I woke up by Matt's alarm clock, which could easily be heard throughout the apartment.
He was going to his first day on the job as an official licensed lawyer. -And I was going to be alone in the apartment for the entirety of the day.
I sat up in my bed and yawned. I already knew how the day was going to be; lonely. Complete and utter unwanted solace.
It sounded like torture, as I hate to be alone.
I hopped out of my bed, and walked out into the kitchen, where Matt was walking out of his room, shirtless, of course.
I quickly looked away.
"Good morning." He said, his voice still half asleep.
I made a gagging noise, "Uhg, not good morning, put a damn shirt on, I feel like I need to bleach my eyes now."
He scoffed, "Remind me why you are the one telling me what to do in my house?"
"Because," I stated, "We don't want half of Hell's Kitchen being blinded by a blind man who might have forgotten to put his shirt on before he walks out the door."
"Sometimes I wonder how such a little person could hold so much hate."
"It's not my fault I'm forced to live with a man who is terribly unattractive." I lied, "It just comes naturally." If anything, Matt just may be the most attractive man in New York City, but there was no way I was ever going to tell him that.
Matt was silent for a moment, before a smirk appeared on his lips "Is that lying I detect?"
"Shut up asshole." Oh yeah, right. He can sense a lie. I always forget that one. You know, because it's not normal, for God's sake.
He grinned and walked back into his room and came back out in less than a minute with a t-shirt on. He then went over and poured us both a cup of coffee. How he managed to not spill it is beyond me -I can see, and yet I still seem to make a mess with the stuff.
He handed me a coffee cup, and I muttered a near silent 'thank you' to which he responded, "You're welcome, Aurora."
I hopped up on the counter and sat on it, as Matt leaned against it, facing me. We were silent for a moment, most likely because we both were still half asleep. Eventually, I finally broke it by saying, "So, today's your first day." He and Foggy have talked about this day for a long time, of course when they did, they were usually incredibly wasted with alcohol.
Still, I can tell how passionate the both of them are about the law. I'm happy for them, honestly. Even if it means that me and Matt won't be seeing each other as often.
It'd probably do me good, being away from him. Somehow, I must get over my feelings for him, there's no way he'd ever date me. I'm just a child to him. A 'little sister' as he and Foggy always stated.
Suddenly Matt's cellphone rang on the counter. I dashed over to get it, but as I took it in my hand, he grabbed hold of my arm, making me drop it instantly. He answered it, whilst dodging all my failed attempts to take it from him.
"Yeah, Foggy?" He said, and I huffed. Giving up and returning to my spot on the counter.
"Speakerphone." I said loud, and Matt rolled his eyes, but obeyed and put the phone on speaker.
"Matt, where the hell are you?" Foggy asked, "Don't tell me you just got up."
"Hey Foggy!" I shouted, even though I didn't have to shout.
"Aurora? What? Matt, you're still at home?! Tell me you aren't still at home. Tell me you're already at work, and somehow the little dwarf's voice is ringing in my head. I didn't just hear her voice. That was not what I just heard right now."
I pouted, "Hey! I'm not a dwarf."
Matt scoffed, "I'm on my way now, Foggy. I'll be there in an hour."
"Get your blind ass out the door, Murdock, because if you're going to be late like this every day, I'm filing for a new partner. A fat partner. One who is willing to get drunk with me every day. You know why? Because I need to get drunk every day, after all the trauma you have put me through. I'm suffering right now, and it's because of you. Thank you for that."
"I'll get drunk with you." I stated.
"Oh wow, I just heard a voice again. I'm going to hang up right now because it's making me incredibly uncomfortable that you still haven't left your house."
He hung up.
Matt shook his head, and went to get dressed. He came out minutes later in a suit, and sunglasses.
He looked just as he did when he was in college.
I love it when he wears a suit.
"Good luck out there, idiot." I said as I walked over and gave him a pat on the arm, "Don't screw up Foggy's career or I'll screw up your face."
"I don't know what you're talking about." He gave me a side-hug that killed my heart. "At least I won't be the one getting drunk by noon."
"You heard the man." I said whilst clearing my throat, "Your friendship is traumatizing."
He gave a slight laugh, "I'll see you later tonight, Aurora." And he left.
