Later that night I was sitting on my bed doing homework. Math. It got to the point where it annoyed me so much, I threw it across the room and let out a dramatic groan. After a minute, Steve and Dad came in.

"You okay, Nugget?" Dad asked.

I pointed to the mess of papers on the floor and Steve went over to it. He picked it up and rolled his eyes, grinning. "Homework," he said.

Dad let out of sigh of relief. "Oh. Well, someone called for you. You can call them after your done."

"Um, I'm done already," I lied.

He raised his eyebrows. "Is she, Stevie?"

I sent a pleading look at Steve and he sighed. "Yep."

I grinned as Dad said, "Okay, you can call her back."

"Who was it?" I asked.

He shrugged. "A girl named Aly."

I nodded and ran downstairs to the only phone in the house. I plopped down on the couch and dialed Aly's number.

She picked up after two rings. "Hello?"

I smiled. "Hey, Al, it's Diane."

"Oh," she said. "Details. Now."

I sighed. "I can't. My dad and brother are home."

"So?" She asked.

I grinned. "I won't get into details, but... I'm his girlfriend..."

I heard her squeal over the phone and I laughed.

"Listen," she said. "Tell us all the details tomorrow, got it?"

I nodded. "Yep. Tomorrow we can start finding out who it is."

"Totally," she replied. "I have a list. See ya."

I grinned. "Bye." I hung up the phone and leaned back on the couch.

Steve was standing in the doorway, staring at me. "So, ya'll official now, huh?"

I rolled my eyes. "Hey, Steve, there's this thing called privacy."

He sighed. "You're a kid. You don't get privacy."

I was getting angry. "You are literally a year older than me!"

"So?" He asked. "I'm smarter."

I scoffed. "But I didn't drop out, did I?"

That's always been a hard topic for him, but I didn't care. "You're a bitch, Diane!" He yelled.

"And you're a cunt!" I screamed back.

Dad was in the room by now. His face turned red. "Hey! Don't say that, it's offensive!"
