Chapter 4:
I jolt up due to the sensation of falling and imediatly regret it as pain shoots up my arm making me arch my back and wince in pain.
"Easy there," A kind... Nurse? says while easing me back down, "Dont want to hurt yourself" She finishes with a smile.
"Where am I?" I say still cringing realizing where I am as I say it.
"St. Mary's Hospital."
Shit. I thought it was just a bad dream, all of it.. Lets be honest, I hoped it was just a bad dream, well, more like nightmare. I have a thousand questions flooding through my head unsure what to ask her first, if she even knows anything. "Who found me?" I find myself croaking, I need water. Conviently there is a full cup on the table to my right. I grab for it and wince again, remembering that I, um... hurt my arm, making me grab it with my good arm and twist my body until I could reach it which took longer than I had wanted.
She opens her mouth to start speaking but is interupted by my gleeful squeeling. In the doorframe is my brother Matthew whom I haden't seen since he stormed out to college 3 years ago.
He chuckles and says in his know-it-all voice that I missed so much "Carefull sis, you're clumsy enough as it is, now with an injured arm? Who knows what could happen." He makes his way over to me and hugs me, cautious not to hurt me.
"What are you doing here!?" I say coping with the burning at the back of my eyes not wanting to cry in front of him. I don't know what it is, but seeing my dad -in a dream, but still- and now my brother. This nightmare may not be that bad after all.
"About that... I will tell you later, for now, lets get us out of here, we can stop at starbucks if you want."
No argument on my part, not only do I get to leave but I also get Starbucks and my throat is so soar. "Sounds amazing," I turn to the nurse "But wait, am I allowed?"
She smiles sweetly and nods, all while helping me up.
As I stand, I feel a wave of dizziness trying to knock me over but I grab on to something, probably the bottom of the bed and steady myself. Once the room stops spinning I make my way over to Matty and he guides me out, stopping only once to grab my clothes and sign what looked like a release form.
We get to the car and he doesn't wait to drop a couple bombs on me -as in huge information that is- and I find myself at complete lack of words, even though those same bombs that left me speechless also made my want to cry out in joy.
Basically, our talk went like this, he told me how he forced our Mom into letting me live with him and attend a new school while I sat there with my jaw probably in china I was so shocked.
We stopped at starbucks as promised and I got refresher (I think thats what its called) before heading to my hom- old house to grab my things.
While we enter, I make sure not to look my Mother in the eye, knowing all I will see is disapointment, causing me to pack so much quicker than most people would. I dont own much anyways, that probably helps my Usain Bolt packing job. I swear, we are only in that house for 15 minutes max.
When we get to his, I mean our house, I am so shocked to see there is already a room prepared for me. To anyone else, the room wasn't that special but to me, it was the most amazing thing ever. The walls were the purest shade of white with one wall black that is made to appear even darker in contrast to the other white walls surrounding it. In the middle of the accent wall was a queen sized bed with just plain duvet covers. I look to my right and see a desk tucked beside my closet with one drawer. I am so shocked and this was just perfect. I swear my hug knocked him out of breathe for a second, but he looks down and smiles at me.
It's all I can do to stay calm knowing everything is going to change from now on, hopefully, for the better.
AN// I'm so sorry this took so long! I know it's short buuuuut, I'm going to start writing in past fence because from now on she is recounting it :) hope you enjoyed, peace :)
