"What do you mean by that?" I ask, sitting up straight, feeling my face blush.
"Exactly how it sounds. You seem like the type that likes to be prepared. Don't you think we should practice? If you say you've never kissed anyone before, don't you think that will be obvious?" he asks, giving me a serious look.
"I don't know, maybe," I say, looking down at my hands which are clenched.
"Come on Anna, loosen up a little, I promise I won't bite," he says winking at me. I roll my eyes and push my lips onto his, hoping the kiss will shut him up. I feel shock on his face, then his lips move against mine slowly. I pull away quickly, just as I feel him leaning in. "Wow," he says, touching his fingers to his lips.
"What do you mean wow?" I ask, sitting back in the spot I have on the couch. Except I know exactly what he means by wow, if all kisses could be like that, I should've started kissing a long time again. It felt so warm and inviting.
"You're sure you've never kissed anyone before?" he asks, his face turning red.
"Yeah, why?" I ask, curious as to why he was blushing.
"That kiss was amazing, I find it hard to believe that you've had no practice," he says, getting up off the couch and going to the kitchen. I look at him as he a glass with water. I notice his muscles through the back of his shirt. I mentally slap myself and look away.
"You seem like the type of guy to know about kisses," I say, looking down at my hands. I can't believe I just said that. I put my head in my hands trying to hide the very strong blush.
"Honestly, you're the first girl I've kissed," he says, coming back over.
"I am?" I ask, peeking up from my hands.
"Yeah, I moved around a lot, like I said. I haven't really had time for relationships either. I do think it's healthy to want both to be a spy and a relationship," he states, putting his feet on the coffee table, and muting the TV.
"I feel like that's the reason my parents died though, they were too focused on each other to tackle the mission," I say, looking at my watch to check the time. It's 4:36 which means we've spent most of the afternoon relaxing and talking about random stuff and our mission.
"I don't think you should feel that way Anna. Everybody deserves love and the experience of it. I've never felt it, but I hope I will eventually. You don't hope for that at all? Aren't girls supposed to love romance?" he asks, looking at his phone after he says it.
"Sure, I've read my fair share of novels, but what if it doesn't work out that way?" I ask, turning the TV off mute when I notice the 5 o'clock news is starting. I figure I should probably start keeping up with current news.
"Authorities confirm the recent shootings and burglaries happening in the country," the News Anchor states. As he continues to explain the current situation, I think about we're going into on Friday.
"This must be a huge organization controlling these crimes, don't you think Ethan?" I ask, looking over our mission again.
"Actually, I think you're right. I think that we are just hitting the surface on our mission. I think we need to dig up all the information we can while on the mission, I think that's the best option," he says, peeking over at the folder too. "What's my code name anyways?" he asks.
"It's Josh Spade and mine is Maddie Roland. I wonder if they'll make our faces look different? I hope they at least make me look different, I'm pretty sure since my old house is the same, the portraits and family pictures are still up," I state.
"I bet they'll make us look different. I'm excited to get into the field actually, how about you?" He asks, putting his arm on the back of the couch behind me. I never feel nervous around people, yet he makes me feel nervous.
