Anna's POV

"I'm going to shower first, if that's okay?" I ask Ethan as we walk into our room further. I quickly throw my bag on the bed, trying to stay awake at this point. I take off my heels, excited to get out of them.

"Go right ahead," he says, taking his shoes off and sitting on the bed. He looks tired too, but handsome still.

I make my way towards the bathroom, making sure to grab a pair of pajamas along the way. I hop in, taking my time to wipe off all the makeup that was helping to hide my identity tonight. I try to brainstorm ideas for what this mission unlocked. The necklace has to mean more, and I can't help but wonder what it means. I finish washing the conditioner out of my hair and step out into the brisk air of the bathroom. I quickly dry off, throwing on my pajamas and exit the bathroom so Ethan can have his turn. I notice Ethan is laying on the bed with his dress shoes off. He also has his tie off and his shirt unbuttoned a couple buttons, making me think about him shirtless this past week. I jokingly throw my towel at him and it lands on his face. He throws it off of him, and gives me a dirty look.

"What did you do that for?" Ethan asks, standing up and starting to walk towards the bathroom.

"What can I say, you bring the more playful side out of me. You remind me of those summer camp days we used to share together," I reply, sitting on the bed and pulling out the case file from my bag.

"Well, your naked body was touching this towel," Ethan says and winks, leaving me sitting on the bed with shock. Ethan is definitely not the innocent, little boy I once knew.

I look down at the case file, losing myself in it. I am determined to figure out this case, and once I set my mind on something I need to accomplish it. I won't rest until the disturbance is handled. I regret not trying to take the person we shot in to question. Next time I will have to take someone so we can be one step closer to finding out the truth about the whole operation. I'm so engrossed that I jump when something soft hits me in the face.

"Payback," Ethan states, while clutching his stomach in laughter.

"Ew, gross," I say, throwing his towel back at him and setting the case file on the end table. I remember the kiss we shared earlier, shaking my head at how stupid I was being. I need to focus on my career, not Ethan. "So what's the plan for tomorrow?" I ask, curious as to what we were going to do for the rest of the weekend.

"I have a surprise planned," he replies, sitting on the bed and quickly towel drying his short, brown hair.

"Really? What is it?" I ask, becoming very intrigued at what he could've planned. I hate surprises, and he knows this from when we were kids.

"Not the point Anna," he states, laying back and pulling out his phone. I do the same, looking at the time and wanting to head to bed. I plug it in, going underneath the covers and shutting my eyes. I hear Ethan follow shortly, and the bed seems big enough that we don't need to be right next to each other, making me relax. Even though we seem to be more than friends, I still want to keep things normal. I drift off quickly, knowing that tomorrow's surprise awaits.

Following Morning

I wake up feeling something heavy draped across my waist, and shortly I realize that it's actually Ethan with his arm wrapped around me. I move from under his arm, making my way towards the restroom. I quickly use the bathroom and brush my teeth, applying some natural makeup. I quickly put on the clothes I brought in with me, being prepared for the cooler air of New York today.
