Dealing with Pirates- Ch 5

We slowly rowed in the cave, Will in the front with a lantern, Jack in the middle rowing facing me in the back. I kept my cold scowl on him and he his cheeky smirk. 'I hate you' I mouthed childishly. He replied with a fake smile.

"What code does the crew keep if the worst should happen." Will asked nervously eyeing a skeleton that had a sword pierced through him.

"Pirates code." Jack started to explained

"Cowardly" I added in.

"Any man who falls behind" he continued ignoring me "Is left behind."

"No heroes amongst thieves, aye?" Will stated.

"There are no such things as heroes, William." I stated "There is a difference between reality and fantasy." Jack gave me a curious look. "Ya know, for having such a bleach way of looking on pirates you're well on your way to becoming one." I said to Will.

"Sprung a man from jail," I started counting on my fingers "commandeered a ship of the fleet, sailed with a buccaneer crew out of Tortuga..." Jack and Will both leaned over the boat admiring the golden treasure under the shallow water.

"And you're completely obsessed with treasure." I scoffed as the boat stepped by the shore. We all stepped out.

"That's not true." Will defended "I am not obsessed with treasure." He spat following Jack and I to the cavern.

Jack stopped by an opening looking back at Will "Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate." Jack said.

I looked at Jack surprised. Jack Sparrow? Could he be meaning something...sentimental?

"Gentlemen the time has come!" I heard Barbosse yell. I looked over seeing his crew gathered around a hill of gold and silver. On top was a chest. He stood there with Elizabeth who had her hands tied. He ranted on as I watched.

"Elizabeth." Will muttered

"For ten years we have been tested and tried!" Barbossa yelled.

Elizabeth told Barbossa her name was Turner. "Why would she do that?" I whispered.

"The cursed treasure of Cortaz himself." Barbossa said "Every last piece we have returned. Except for this!" He pointed to Elizabeth who had the medallion on her neck.

"Jack!" Will muttered nervously fixing to jump out. I grabbed his arm and pulled him down.

"Will, stop!" I said quietly.

"Not yet!" Jack agreed helping me pull him down. Jack mutters something to Will as I check to see if anyone had heard us. "Stay here and keep a watch." Jack said to me while walking away with Will.

"And Whose blood must yet be paid!" Barbossa yelled.

"Hers!" The crewed replied pointing at her and making kill gestures. Elizabeth stepped back nervously at their shouts.

"Hold on, lass.' I muttered

"You know the first thing Imma do after the curse is lifted?" Barbossa asked calmer than before.

He grinned stepping next to Elizabeth "Eat a whole bushel of apples." He laughed grabbing her by the neck and forcing her down. He picked up a dagger as the entire cave started in a chant.

"Begotten by blood" Barbossa said "By blood undone!" He snatched the chain off her neck and snatched her wrist. He placed the coin in her palm and slit her skin. She gasped in pain

He help her hand over the treasure and she opened her palm breathing heavily. The coin fell and the cave went into silence. They all stood still and closed their eyes.
