( Hey guys! Hope you enjoy the story please vote and comment. I would love to hear your opinions it honestly means the world to me.)

All I want is a little excitement, something different. I have the same routine everyday. Get up, go to class, come home and study. Nothing interesting ever happens. I wonder what I would be like to go out and party and not have a care in the world. Sadly, I will most likely never experience the feeling of being free. I'm just a common girl leading a common life. My only goal is to graduate college and travel all around the world. I grew up in a extremely small town in Pennsylvania. Thats the main reason why I worked my butt off to get into Columbia University in New York. The rush of the city gives me hope that I'll have a bright future as a Sociologist. Basically a person who studies human interactions, "Stalking" as my roommate calls it.

I'm not even sure how Sasha got into such a fancy place. I've only been here seven and a half months but I can already tell she doesn't fit into the preppy category. The only time I see her is when she comes back to the dorm from her late classes. We talk and get along but we are polar opposites. She has perfectly straight bleach blonde hair and and grey eyes, while I on the other hand, have deep waves and dark brown hair with matching eyes. Shes also unnaturally stick thin but has informed me that shes always been that way. I look like a bodybuilder next to her. I got a scholarship here for tennis and my straight A's. My body is and toned and I eat healthier than most college freshman.

"Hey Noel, I was just about to go get something to eat in the food court, do you want be to get you anything? You've been working on that paper all night." Sasha scared me, I didn't even hear her come in.

"No thanks I ate earlier." I say glancing behind me to meet her ghostly eyes. I give her a weak smile and turn back to the 10 page report I'm typing, or trying to type. Its hard to think when theres so much going on in your mind.

"Okay, I'll be back later." Sasha says before closing the door with a bang. I been sheltered in this room for too long. I grab my iphone and see that I have two missed calls. One from my mom and the other is from my best friend back home, Jennette. If I call my mom I will get sucked into a four hour long conversation about the township, downside to having your mom being the township-supervisor. I pinch the bridge of my nose to ease the headache I feel coming on. I get up from my small desk and lazily plop down on my futon bed. I decided to call Jennette back considering we haven't talked in over a week and I could really use a pick me up.

"Hello?" Her calm yet chipper voice relieves my mind. I can picture her frizzy red hair and bright blue eyes smiling though the phone. We have been friends since middle school and I was terribly upset when I had to leave her and my family behind.

"Hey Jennette, how are you?" I struggle to hold my phone against my shoulder while I put up my shoulder length hair.

"I'm great, what about you?" She seems eager to tell me something.

"Missing home but hanging in there, you sound excited about something."

"Wow Noel, can't go five minutes without you reading my mind, there is something I can't wait to tell you, you're not going to believe it."

"Okay, spill it."

"Are you sitting down?" I am on the edge of my seat waiting. Its not everyday I get intriguing news like this.

"Yes, now come on tell me!"

"Well, you know that guy Jayden I was telling you about, the one in my spanish class?"

"Yes, the one with the snake tattoo and nasty lip piercing?"

"Yes thats him," I can feel her rolling her eyes at my description. "He asked me out!" I thought she was going to give me something with more of a shock factor, but it still surprises me a little.

"Thats great!" I can hear traffic on Jennette's end of the line.

"I know! I really like him and he makes me happier than I've ever been before." I can't help but smile about how giddy she sounds.

"Well that makes me happy. Just don't do anything you will regret, and make sure he knows you have a friend who will not hesitate to rip his stupid lip ring right out of his mouth." I half jokingly say.

"That was extremely harsh, anyway I have to go. Oh, one more thing, when are you coming back?" I can barely make out what she saying between the car horns and sirens.

"Next weekend."

"Great I'm going to plan something special for us and you can meet Jayden." She shcrechs with joy.

"Okay thats sounds awesome, bye Jennette."

I cut off her in the middle of her yelling for a taxi. Its odd that we both moved to big cities. Me, New york and her Philadelphia. I'm not ecstatic to meet her oddly chosen boyfriend but I trust her taste in men. She dated boys since before I even met her. Her bubbly wild personality and unique look made people want to get to know her. I wish that some of her outgoingness would have rubbed off on me. But no, I still get nervous ordering takeout on the phone.

The fact that its only seven thirty and I'm yawning makes me feel like I'm 90 rather than 18. School has been really taking it out of me which is why I can't wait to go home in nine days. I miss my younger sister Audrey and our chocolate lab Mickey. I long for my mother's homemade apple dumpling and chicken noodle soup. I can even picture my dad slurping up the noodles sending Audrey in to adorable giggles. I wish I could find more reasons to come home. My mom seems to want me to never come back and focus on school.

My phone buzzes with a message from Sasha letting me know she won't get back till 11. I not sure why she feels the need to tell me this, it happens almost every night.

I grab a pair of shorts as a tanktop and make my way to the private bathroom to wash my face. Thats a plus, not having to share a toilet with a ton of other people. I rinse off the minimal amount of foundation and mascara. I scrub at the black smudges under my eyes. Thats what I get for using cheap products. I never used to put effort into my appearance until recently. I always thought my naturally tanned skin and long eyelashes were enough until I saw the mass amount of makeup girls in college wear, especially Sasha. She spends hours in the bathroom and uses up most of the small storage. I'm pretty sure I've never seen her without at least foundation and eyeliner.

I officially give up on this report that due in two days. I can always do it tomorrow night considering I don't have plans. I never have plans.

I set my alarms on my phone and go to sleep prepared to wake up in the same boring life I've grown a custom too.
