Kara's POV

I opened my eyes and the bright sunlight seeping through my window curtains greeted me. For a moment I stayed motionless, trying to get a grasp on the situation.

Wait...it's my first day in school today, right?

I immediately sat up as I remembered that and put my slippers on. I scrambled my way downstairs to the dining room and saw mom putting some pancakes on a big plate.

"Good morning, darling," I greeted her back and placed a kiss on her cheek and sat down. "Excited for your first day?" Mom asked and smiled at me.

"Yeah," I replied, putting a pancake on my plate and started eating. After that I went back up into my room and took a bath, put on some black crop top and high-waist denim jeans and some pair of pink sneakers. I combed my hair and put it into a tight braid, slung my backpack on my back and went back downstairs.

"Bye, mom," I said and kissed her cheek. She handed me my car keys and I went outside our house and got into my car and drove to school.

I parked in the parking lot and got outside my car and locked the doors. I went to the main building and read the name of the university placed on its facade.

Collins University

I went inside the main building and went to the information desk. There were also other students lined up, probably some new students like me or some old students that were waiting for their schedule and locker keys to be given.

I fell in the queue and patiently waited for my turn. I roamed my eyes around the building, it was brightly lit and really clean and smelled of strawberry air fresheners.

After a minute of standing I reached the front desk and asked for what I came here for. The kind lady gave it to me and I looked at the schedule, it seems like my first subject was at the building next to this one. I went there and entered the building.

There I saw some other students, some looked like they were a grade higher than me and some seemed like seniors. Some of them were talking in groups but some just stayed quiet and by theirselves, but nevertheless it was quiet inside.

Wow. They seem very disciplined.

I walked forward and looked for my locker. Once I found it I opened it using my keys and stuffed some of my books inside that I wasn't going to need for the morning subjects.

While arranging my locker the one beside me opened. I looked at it and saw a boy with disheveled chocolate brown hair. He was wearing some thick black nerdy glasses and he had a sharp  jawline.

"What are you looking at?" His voice was deep and sexy. Wait, what did I just say?

"Are you talking to me?" I asked him back. He slammed his locker door which startled me and faced me, giving me a cold and dull stare from his tantalizing sky blue eyes.

"Obviously, yes."

My cheeks suddenly heated up. He seemed short tempered.

"Sorry," I apologized and continued minding my own business. I quickly walked away when I got my books and looked for the classroom where my first period class would occur.

I found it on the second floor. I peeked inside the small, square window on the door and the teacher isn't there yet.

I went inside and suddenly got cold. The aircon seemed to be on it's highest setting as it was whirring loudly.

I spotted a boy inside with black raven hair. His head was bowed down as he was reading a book that was on his desk. It's only the two of us in this room.

I walked to him carefully and sat beside him. I was trying my best not to make any sound while I tried to move aside the chair beside him so I could sit down without disturbing him but he seemed to notice me anyway.

I sat down and looked at the blank whiteboard ahead. I kept my arms to my sides and rubbed it a bit with my hands. It's so cold in here.

"New student?" I looked at the boy and saw his kind emerald green eyes looking at me.

"Uh—yeah," I answered, stuttering a bit.

"Are you getting cold?" He raised his eyebrows and stood up before I could reply. He went to the aircon on the other side of the room and turned it down a bit then came back to his seat.

"Uhm, thank you," I said and he smiled warmly at me.

"You're welcome, I have a jacket here you can borrow if you're still cold," he said and I silently nodded.

I like him, he's a gentleman.

Uhh, not that kind of like. I mean, I like his personality, yeah.

"I'm Lucifer, by the way," he said and offered his hand for a handshake.

Lucifer? Well...that's..pretty unique.

"I'm Kara, nice to meet you," I said and took his hand that was a bit larger than mine. It was soft and warm.

"Same here," he said.

We talked a bit more, about some random things about ourselves. You know, like getting to know each other sort of stuff.

I was feeling pretty awkward while talking to him, to be honest. I've never had a boy as a friend before, most of my friends from my past schools were girls. I don't know why, I just find it easier to catch up with girls instead of boys. I always feel like I won't be able to relate with them since I'd always been a bit girly.

A few minutes after we heard the school bell rang from the outside. Other students started piling inside the room and I noticed some girls giving Lucifer a look but he doesn't seem to be bothered.

Maybe they like him?

I looked at the front and a male teacher went in and placed his bag on the desk in front of the classroom. All of us inside were quiet as he got a marker and wrote his name on the whiteboard.

Mark Sanders Gordon

"Good morning, class. I'm Mark Sanders Gordon, you can call me Mr. Gordon or Sir Mark, and I'll be your Math teacher," he said and placed the marker in the table. "I'm actually a new teacher here, so..I hope we get along well!"

"Oh no, another new teacher,"

"Poor guy,"

"I wish he knows what is in store for him,"

I furrowed my eyebrows as I heard the murmurs of the other students around me. What's wrong?
