Kara's POV

BANG!

"MOVE AWAY!" I quickly opened my eyes when I heard the loud gunshot. I saw the students move and form an opening to the circle earlier and saw Dominic holding a gun.

What?

I looked around for Dianna but she was already lying on the floor, blood oozing out from her head where a bullet went through. My eyes widened.

Did he just shoot Dianna? What is wrong with this place?

"No! Why did you do that! Not my sister! It should be her!" A girl that kinda looked like Dianna stepped out from the crowd and went in front of Dominic. I saw Lucifer behind him as he went to me and kneeled beside me.

"Are you alright?" He asked me and I couldn't speak anymore. I was getting dizzy and the wound started to burn painfully.

Lucifer swiftly reached for the knife Dianna was holding. I got nervous and thought he was gonna stab me but he used it to cut a piece of his T-shirt. He crumpled the cloth and pressed it on my wound, applying pressure.

I groaned in pain. He reached for my left hand and placed it above the cloth, making me hold it.

"There. Just press that on the wound for a while," he said. I nodded and felt him lifting me up in his arms as he stood up. Meanwhile, I saw Dominic arguing with the girl who seemed to be Dianna's sister.

"Why did you kill her?!"

"Because she fucking deserves it."

"What do you mean?! Its the rules! She was just ordered to kill her! You're not allowed to interrupt the killers decision!"

"I don't care."

I was too dizzy too even interpret what they were talking about. The pain felt never-ending as Lucifer carried me and walked away from the commotion, walking into an empty hallway.

"Just hold on, okay? Were almost there," he said to me. I grunted in return and kept pressing on the wound even though it hurts like hell.

After a few minutes we reached the clinic. Lucifer opened the door and went inside, the cold air hitting my skin and giving me goosebumps.

Lucifer set me down on a bed and a nurse suddenly came rushing to us. I was already panting, I've lost so much blood already.

"Oh, goodness! What happened?" The nurse lifted my shirt up and bit and looked at my wound. She cleaned it up and I kept grunting everytime the water hits it, making it sting.

"She got attacked by another student," I heard Lucifer saying. I closed my eyes and let my head fall back. I want to sleep, I can't bare the pain anymore.

Lucifer's POV

I sat down by the bed Kara was laying down on. The nurse had finished treating her wound already and she fell asleep.

I brought out my handkerchief and wiped the sweat on her forehead. The nurse took off her T-shirt that was soaked in blood so she could wash it, for the meanwhile I let her borrow my jacket instead.

The door opened behind us and I saw Dominic coming in, the gun he used earlier tucked inside his pants.

"What happened?" I asked him and he pulled out two red envelopes, one with a darker shade and one with a light one, from his backpack.

He handed it to me and I grabbed it. I opened the light red one and saw Kara's full name on it, while Dianna's full name was written on the dark red one, along with the famous words, Get ready.

So they got the envelopes. That's why Dianna wanted to kill Kara.

Every other week some of the students here in this school receive a light red and dark red envelope on their lockers. They can receive it anytime of the day, whether in the morning, afternoon, or after classess. If you get the light red envelope, you have to kill the person who's name was written on the envelope. And if the victim gets lucky, she gets a dark red envelope with the name of the one targeting her on it, just like what happened between Dianna and Kara. But sometimes, the victims doesn't receive anything and are left hanging for a surprise.

But the thing is, whether your victim is a friend of yours or what, you have to kill him or her the moment you get a chance to go near the victim, or else the killer will be the one who'll hunt you.

I placed the envelopes on the table beside me. "Why did you kill Dianna?" I asked Dominic. I was also surprised earlier when he suddenly shot her. Its not the first time he's done that, he also shoots other students when this happens but this was the very first time he actually killed someone.

"I didn't mean to," he said and pulled another chair close and sat down on it.

"What about Diannara and her family? You could go to jail if they sue you," I asked him but as always, he seems unbothered by it.

"Their parents already passed away and its just the two of then living together," he said. "And Diannara wouldn't dare. She knew that Dianna was in the list, anyway."

"Is she?" I asked and he nodded. Every month we receive a list that contains the names of 10 people from any grade level that would be hunted down and killed by the killer for that specific month it was released. They would be lucky if they managed to hide or save themselves, they can be also redeemed if the killer gives them a target, but sometimes its really up to him. There were some cases were a person that was in the list was given a target and they managed to kill the target immediately but they still ended up getting killed.

This thing has been going on for now eversince like, 10 years ago. None of us know why this is happening, who is the killer and why is he or she doing this. All we know is that this is the killers' way of using as a pawn for his or her own entertainment. Because if he or she is just simply after someone, why does it has to go this far?

"Are we gonna wait here for her to wake up?" Dominic asked me. "I still have something to do."

"Its okay, I'll just stay here and take her to her house," I said. He nodded and stood up, leaving the clinic.
