The cool autumn sun washed down on the sand that lined Camp Half Blood. It was still warm enough for a t-shirt, but too cold to go swimming. The trees were still in full bloom because of the magical borders that lined the camp, and the weather did not change unless the camp directior, Chiron, wanted it to.

Percy was sitting down on the damp sand, his legs stretched out in front of him, his arms beside him, holding his weight. He was watching the water, trying to calm himself down from the fight Annabeth and he had just had. They had been fighting a lot lately, and as much as he hated to admit it, he was getting sick of it, and her. She always thought she was smarter than him when it came to everythning, and she wasn't. She would correct him constantly, and it really pissed him off.

Percy was starting to ramble to himself quietly when behind him, he heard light footsteps crunching through the sand. He looked back and saw Nico coming to see him. He was wearing his Aviator jacket, dark wash jeans, and some black vans. He wore the same style of clothing all the time, always dark. His hair was wet, as he obviously just got out of the shower, and the bahs under his eyes were worse than usual.

"Hey, Nico. You okay? You look a little sick," Percy called, patting the sand beside him. Nico came and sat beside him, but was careful not to sit too close, scooching his butt over a few inches after sitting down.

"Yeah, just have a lot on my mind. Not sleeping. My insomnia is getting really bad agin," he explained.

"You know, if you talk to Chiron, he can probably get you some medication from the mortal world. It'll help," Percy looked over at Nico, and he really did look exausted. His face was slouched and had a greyish tint. His eye blinked frequantly and he made it look like it took a lot of effort to speak.

"No, no, I don't want that stuff. It probably wouldn't work on me anyways. Medication usually doesn't. I think I just need to get over it naturally," he spoke in a hushed, rough voice.

"Well, if you ever change your mind, I'll come with you for support," Percy patted Nico on the back and he flinched, pulling away from Percy's hand.

"Yeah, sure. I'm going to go," Nico stood up in a rush, almost falling back over in the process, and starting jogging back to camp, a worried look on his face.

As Nico was jogging, tears pricked at his eyes, slipping from the corners onto his cheeks and down his neck. He was already in a bad mood from not sleeping, and what had happened with Percy only made it worse. He hated himself for liking Percy, and hated Percy for being himself.

When he was born, in the 1940's, being gay was unheard of. He had confessed to his own mother that he liked boys, but she had slapped his nose for telling lies. After that, he told no one, afraid he wouldn't be taken seriously.

But now he found Percy, the perfect person. He was beautiful, his dark hair, like a greek should have, windblown and messy, and his eyes, bright enough to shine through darkness, and more supirior than an emreld, green blending to blue. He had inches on Nico, his chest reaching the top of his head, and he was muscular, his whole body, from years of fighting and training. He spoke with kindness and understanding, but also with intenstiy, from years of working his way out of tough situations through conversation. Nico was in love with every single perection and flaw.

He dashed up Half Blood Hill and across the now abandoned sword fighting fields up to his lone cabin apart from everyone else's. When he had come to Camp Half Blood with his sister, there was no cabin for children of Hades, because it was belived that none existed. But hey, here he was. They whipped up a cabin quickly, so he could have a place to spend the night.

It was a crappy cabin, but it sheltered him from weather and gave him a place to sleep.  It was also made with blocks of obsidian, which chipped occasionally, and left sharp edges. When people weren't careful,  they would knick a shoulder or an elbow against the piercing rock and draw blood.

He crashed through his door, and slammed it closed again. It made a gruesome bang, echoing througout the hills of the camp, most likely going to attract some campers to check if he was okay. He was most definitely not okay.

Nico climbed onto the top bunk of his bunk bed and climbed under the covers, even though it was warm out and he was still wearing his jacket. He laid himself down and gripped the blankets with his cold, pale hands. Tears leaked from his eyes and down his face, onto his pillow. His chest started tensing, choking him, and he rolled onto his side, grabbing a small object from under his mattress.

It was a ring. The ring that his sister had given him. It had been their mother's, and she wanted him to have it when she joined the hunters. Since she had died, it was all he had to remember her by. He hid it under his mattress so no one would find it.

"Oh, Gods, Bianca, I wish you were here. You would know what to do. You always did," Nico sobbed deeply, gripping the ring between his fingers. He knew his sister would advise him to talk to Percy, to make things good with him, but it didn't sound right coming from his own mouth. He needed to hear it from her.

There was a timid knock on the door of his cabin, but he ignored it, bawling even harder into his pillow. Whoever it was must've come in because he heard the creak of the door and footsteps that   shuffled toward his bed.

"Nico?" a hand touched his shoulder softly. He pushed it off and pulled the blanket over top of his head.

"Leave me alone," he cried, curling his body into the fetal position under the covers.

"Nico please talk to me. Are you alright?" It was Percy. He had come looking for Nico after he ran from their conversation. He had looked upset and wanted to check if he was okay, which he obviously wasn't.

"I don't want to talk to you Percy. Not now, and not ever again!"

"Okay, Nico, but why? What did I do? I'm sorry if I ever insulted you, just please let me know what I did wrong," Percy pleaded.

"C-Could you please just leave? I want to be alone," Nico said softly. Percy complied, leaving without another word. Nico slipped the ring back under the mattress and fell asleep, not caring about supper tonight.
