Percy and co. were standing in the main room of the Big House. He sat on a couch with Annabeth, who in his opinion, sat a little too close to him. Kyle was sitting in the spot to Annabeth's other side, Grover sat in a chair next to Kyle, and Chiron in his wheelchair in front of everyone. Kyle had a mug of hot chocolate 'because he was in an accident and was more hurt than Percy'. Granted this was true but Percy didn't believe the way he was already being spoiled.
Chiron had just got done explaining how the Greek Pantheon was actually real and alive and kicking. How they moved with the west and was currently above the Empire State Building, yada, yada, etc. When he was done, Annabeth had still had questions not at all related to the lecture Chiron had finished.
"But why did the Kindly One only go after Kyle?" She asked. "Why not Percy?"
Chiron looked like he had an answer, but before he voice it, Kyle said, "Because I'm more dangerous, obviously! She wanted to get the most powerful out of the way first."
"While that is a possibility, child," Chiron said before Percy could form Erebos and chop off something Kyle wouldn't be using for a long time. "I'm sure it has something to do with smell."
"Smell?" Annabeth asked. She knew what Chiron was talking about but still risked a quick sniff of the older Jackson brother. He stared at her weirdly while Chiron raised an eyebrow and she blushed. She fought it down and said, "Vanilla and strawberries but also something else. It's... metallic."
Chiron nodded. "Both of their smells are strong but that is where the similarities end."
"Kyle smells like an Olympian," Grover supplied, looking proud of himself.
"And me?" Percy asked. The proud smirk was immediately wiped off his face.
Grover took an uneasy look at him and then at the wheelchair bound centaur. Chiron gave a nod of consent and Grover replied, "Weirdly, you smell like... You smell like an Alaskan woodland forest with and under layer."
"Of..."
"Of blood." Grover shivered. "Lots and lots of blood."
Percy blinked. "Well ain't that peachy," he muttered sarcastically. "On that awkward and rather unnerving note, I'm tired. Where do I sleep?"
"It's ten in the morning!" Annabeth yelled indigently.
"And I've been up all night and fought the Minotaur!" Percy snapped, feeling the uncomfortable shifting in eyes that had become associated with his eyes turning black and red. He quickly closed his eyes hoping that no one had seen the change. Percy knew that they could be the key to figuring out who his father is if he asked the right person. But something told him if he did show anyone, he wouldn't be let out of anyone's sight. That would be bad for someone trying to destroy the gods.
"I'm tired and I want to go to bed," Percy said, his eyes still closed. He spoke slowly, almost falling asleep in the process of trying to calm himself. He really did have a short fuse in this life. "I'll see you later."
Ignoring the protest of Annabeth and Grover, Percy walked out of the Big House and towards the beach. It was as peaceful as it was when Percy was in control of it.
Then Percy had an epiphany. Chaos said that little bits of the other timeline could transfer over to this one- evidence present for the Minotaur. But did that mean powers as well? Chaos only said feeling and memories.
Percy stared at the lapping waves, wondering if the pain was worth the benefit. The emotional pain of Poseidon disowning him and being replaced with his half-brother was still fresh in his mind. But he decided to try.
He closed his eyes, berating himself for trying. Why should he try to get his water powers back? Most of them had left him when Poseidon abandoned him. All he had left was his water breathing and his cave as he was kicked out of the Poseidon cabin.
Wait. The cave.
Percy opened his eyes, not bothering to try and bring his water powers back from the other timeline anymore. Was the place he shared with Thalia still there? The place he realized his feelings? The only sanctuary that Percy had after his life went to shit?
On a whim, he started walking. He swore that if the the Fates took the cave away, he was going to snip their cord. It was the last place he had; it better not be gone.
Percy kept walking on the beach. The dirt ground lifted from the same level of sand and rose and rose, allowing Percy to see the stone underneath the ground that held the cabins. It was jagged in some places but smooth in most; years of erosion had taken it's toll. Percy ran his hand along the wall. He felt the feeling rise in his chest that had drawn him to this place. He always thought it was because of being a child of Poseidon (even a disgraced one) but now it seemed incorrect.
The walls weren't as defined as they were (or will be?) when Percy found it when he was seventeen. He remembered the events that followed after he moved in. When Thalia found him.
He was sleeping on his cot after a hard day's work. He had taken a chisel and begun to chip away at the stone to give him some more room and make a real home out of the cave. It was slow and tiring work but the results were unquestionable. In the three weeks he had started chipping at the stone he had made three different rooms. A modest sized bedroom filled with jars of greek fire for light and a dresser and desk; A living room that was just a giant entry hall; And a large training room two stories tall. A single dummy stood in the middle.
He never heard Thalia come in, but he woke to find her asleep by his side. Tear stains covered her cheeks and Percy gently wiped them away with his thumb. He fell asleep with their foreheads touching again.
Sorry for the short chapter, I wrote it and was putting it on the computer and didn't realize it was this short. I've wrote a lot of chapters in notebooks and I just want to get it written down on Wattpad as a final draft.
I'm working on Chapter Twelve right now in my notebook but I'll be writing down the chapters into the computer whenever I have time.
